Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1989 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z convertible has been Texas-owned since new and received recent work to the air conditioning, electrical system, engine, transmission, and suspension. It has been driven just 650 miles since a rebuild of the 350cid small-block V8 and is equipped with a four-speed automatic transmission. Features include a sportbar, a spoiler, quad exhaust outlets, 18-inch wheels, a backup camera, and an upgraded stereo. Finished in Dark Red Metallic over a custom two-tone maroon and black vinyl interior, this third-generation Camaro is now offered with service records, a clean CARFAX report, and a clear title in the seller’s name.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The Dark Red Metallic exterior features fog lamps, quad headlights, simulated hood louvers, IROC-Z decals, a sportbar, a rear spoiler, and quad polished exhaust outlets. New convertible top tonneau cover parts, a latch kit, and newer release cables have been installed. The seller notes that there are no windshield wipers installed and small scratches are present on the front bumper.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

New US Mags 18-inch aluminum split-spoke wheels are wrapped in new Z-rated 235/45 Fortune tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The refurbished 2+2 interior has custom maroon and black vinyl bucket seats up front, matching seats in the rear, and coordinating materials for the door panels, dash, center console, and carpeting. Features include manual-crank windows, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a Z28 badge, air conditioning, a stereo with JL subwoofers, a backup camera, cup holders, and all-weather floor mats. The HVAC system received the following new parts in January 2024:

  • Climate control selector switch
  • Fan speed switch
  • Vacuum check valve
  • Blower speed switch
  • Heater control switch
  • Climate control check valve
  • R-134a refrigerant

INTERIOR – GAUGES

Instrumentation includes a 115-mph speedometer, a 7,000-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. A five-digit mechanical odometer shows 650 miles, which reflects the mileage on the rebuilt engine. The most recent mileage recorded on the CARFAX report in 2005 was 176,079 miles.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The fuel-injected 350cid small-block V8 is not original to the car and has been rebuilt. The air conditioning system has been recharged. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a console-shifted four-speed automatic transmission. Engine and transmission work in January included the replacement of the:

  • Battery
  • Starter wiring connections
  • Synthetic oil
  • Oil pan gasket
  • Transmission filter
  • Transmission pan gasket
  • Shift shaft seal.

UNDERCARRIAGE

The front and rear springs, shocks, and struts were replaced in January with KYB and Moog components.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

The CARFAX report begins in 1989 and shows accident-free ownership in Texas. A safety inspection was completed in 2022. Service records will come with the car.

@EABOUIE1 – Is there a reserve on this car? ...

Good morning! The lowest bid that I would consider on the 1989 Iroc Z28 would be $36,800. It has a lot of upgrades & a rebuilt 350 engine. Also brand new interior. It’s a great cruiser car. It’s also wired for a nice sound system as well. I will also throw in the JL audio subwoofer speakers. However, $36,800 is the lowest I would take.
