OVERVIEW
This 2,120-mile 2002 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Firehawk coupe is one of approximately 1,500 total units that were upgraded when new by SLP (Street Legal Performance) in Tom’s River, New Jersey. It is powered by an LS1 5.7-liter V8 mated to a BorgWarner T-56 six-speed manual transmission and features removable T-tops, 17-inch wheels, a Monsoon audio system, and a cat-back exhaust system. Finished in Black over an Ebony leather interior, this final-year Trans Am is now offered by the selling dealer with a car cover, owner’s booklets, promotional literature, a clean CARFAX report, and a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The Black (code 41) exterior features pop-up headlights, fog lamps, a composite hood with a twin-inlet air induction system, vented front fenders, removable T-tops, Firehawk graphics, and a decklid spoiler.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Chrome 17-inch five-spoke wheels are wrapped in 275/40 Firestone Firehawk tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The 2+2 cockpit is optioned with Ebony leather bucket seats up front, dual seats in the rear, and corresponding trim for the door panels, dash, center console, carpeting, and Firehawk-branded floor mats. Features include remote keyless entry, a power-adjustable driver seat, power windows, power door locks, power steering, cruise control, air conditioning, a Monsoon eight-speaker AM/FM/CD audio system, and a cup holder. The selling dealer notes that there is a crack in the upper portion of the passenger-side door panel, which can be seen in the gallery to the right.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
A 155-mph speedometer, a 7,000-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage are located ahead of the driver. The digital odometer reads 2,120 miles, which falls in line with the most recent figure of 2,118 miles recorded on the CARFAX report in February 2024.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The SLP-modified LS1 5.7-liter V8 was rated at 345 horsepower and 345 lb-ft of torque when new. The CARFAX report shows that the ignition coil and spark plug wires were replaced in 2022. Power is directed to the rear wheels via a console-shifted BorgWarner T-56 six-speed manual transmission.
UNDERCARRIAGE
Stopping power comes from anti-lock disc brakes. The Bilstein-equipped suspension uses 35-millimeter front and 21-millimeter rear stabilizer bars. The cat-back exhaust system was installed by SLP.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The CARFAX report begins in 2002 and shows accident-free ownership in Indiana and Arizona with an 18-year gap in entries until 2020. The vehicle will come with a car cover, owner’s booklets, and promotional literature.

This car in the color combination was one of 318 made for 2002. I had one years ago. Same one. Great car. I sold mine in 2012 with 6,000 miles.
