Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1963 MG MGB roadster underwent a restoration completed in 2020 and received fresh paint, a new convertible top, a redone interior, and a replacement wiring harness. It is powered by a rebuilt 1.8-liter I4 mated to a rebuilt four-speed manual transmission. Features include a wood steering wheel, dual carburetors, an electric overdrive, and front disc brakes. Finished in Old English White and equipped with a dark gray convertible top over a black leather interior from Moss Motors, this MkI MGB comes with a clear title in the seller's name.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

During the restoration completed in 2020, the reportedly rust-free body was repaired and refinished in Old English White by MG Limited of Greenfield, Wisconsin and equipped with new lighting, lenses, and chrome bumpers as well as a new dark gray vinyl manual convertible top with a zip-out rear window. Features include a chrome grille, side trim, replacement window glass, and a driver-side rearview mirror.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of 14-inch alloy wheels from Specialist Car Products Ltd is wrapped in General AltiMAX radial tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The cabin is furnished with Moss Motors-supplied black leather bucket seats with white accent piping surrounded by black door panels and trim with white accent piping. Features include manual windows and steering, a floor-mounted manual transmission shifter, a three-spoke steering wheel with a wood rim, and a refinished heater. The door panels, carpeted floor mats, and carpeting were replaced as part of the restoration. A new wiring harness has been installed.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

The 120-mph speedometer, 6,500-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the fuel level, water temperature, and oil pressure located in the replacement dashboard were restored by Nisonger Instruments. The odometer reads 1,100 miles, which reflects the mileage accrued since the restoration was completed. The true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a five-main-bearing 1.8-liter I4 from a later-model MGB and backed by a four-speed manual transmission equipped with synchronized second, third, and fourth gears as well as electric overdrive. The engine, gearbox, and rear differential were rebuilt by MG Limited. Features include dual carburetors, a high temperature-coated exhaust header, an aluminum radiator, and an aluminum flywheel. In 2023, a new fuel pump and an electronic ignition were installed.

UNDERCARRIAGE

During the chassis restoration process, new suspension components, a new fuel tank, and new manual front disc and rear drum brakes were installed. A single exhaust system exits at the rear.

@wconaboy – I love this car and have been looking for one like it in great shape like yours for a while. I’m prepared to bid because I want to buy it for my wife for our 45th wedding anniversary. My concern is getting it to NE Pennsylvania??? Any idea what the cost might be and how protected it would be in transport. Ty . Bill , 570-351-8765 if a call is easier. ...

There are many options and pricing for transportation available, most likely take around 7 days to arrive.
