OVERVIEW
This 1930 Ford Model A coupe "Highboy" is powered by a 1938 21-stud 221cid flathead V8 backed by three Stromberg carburetors and a 1939 Ford three-speed manual transmission. Features include 1933 Ford commercial headlights with integrated turn signals, a trunk-mounted 16-gallon fuel tank, a dropped I-beam front axle, and a lengthened frame. Finished in blue over a gray vinyl interior, this Ford comes from the selling dealer with a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The exterior received a small patch of bodywork repair before it was finished in blue. Features include 1933 Ford commercial headlights with body-color buckets and integrated turn signals, a 1932 Ford radiator shell and insert, a gray two-piece hood, a windshield visor, a tilt-out windshield, dual rearview mirrors, a black vinyl roof insert, a hinged trunk lid, and 1950 Pontiac-style taillights. The selling dealer reports a few minor imperfections are present in the finish.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of red steel wheels with chrome center caps and trim rings is wrapped in newer Excelsior radial tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The cabin is furnished with a gray vinyl bench seat surrounded by a matte black dashboard and gray vinyl door panels and trim. Features include manual windows and steering, a four-spoke sprint car-style steering wheel, and a floor-mounted manual transmission shifter.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
A set of Stewart Warner instruments that includes a 160-mph speedometer and gauges for the fuel level, oil pressure, battery, and water temperature are located ahead of the driver. The odometer reportedly reads 9,500 miles, but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Power is provided by a 1938 Ford 21-stud 221cid flathead V8 and backed by a 1939 Ford three-speed manual transmission. Engine bay features include an upgraded camshaft, adjustable lifters, Offenhauser finned aluminum heads, an aluminum Weiand intake manifold with three Stromberg 97 carburetors, and a Powermaster alternator.
UNDERCARRIAGE
The chassis and front crossmember has been modified to accept a body-color dropped I-beam front axle and the frame has been lengthened by seven inches to accommodate a 1941 Ford rear drive axle. Braking is provided by manual drums. A dual exhaust system flows from tube headers and ends above the rear axle.
