Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1996 Daihatsu Midget II is a single-seat compact pickup that was originally sold in the Japanese-market as a Kei-class utility vehicle. It is powered by a 659cc I3 mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes driving lamps, window visors, a radio, and  drum brakes. Finished in dark blue over a gray patterned cloth and dark gray vinyl interior, this second-generation Midget is now offered with a clear title in the seller’s name.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The dark blue exterior features auxiliary driving lights, a push bar, a front-mounted spare tire, a single windshield wiper, side window visors, and tubular cargo bed sides. Some paint areas have been touched up, per the seller.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

Five-spoke 12-inch wheels are wrapped in 145/80 Yokohama tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The single seat of the right-hand-drive cab is upholstered in patterned gray cloth with dark gray vinyl sides. Features include manual-crank windows, a detached headrest, overhead storage compartments, an inverted Kenwood AM/FM/CD radio, and a floor-mounted speaker.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

Instrumentation includes a 120-km/h (75-mph) speedometer and a fuel gauge. The analog odometer reads 6,500 kilometers (about 4,038 miles).

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The carbureted EF-CK 659cc I3 was rated at 31 horsepower and 37 lb-ft of torque when new. The fluids were changed recently, per the seller. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission.

UNDERCARRIAGE

The suspension uses MacPherson struts up front and a leaf-sprung solid rear axle. Stopping power comes from drum brakes at all four corners.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

The seller has provided a video of the vehicle being driven.

Just a question out of curiosity, the Corvair that is within the photo, I thought it was sold a little while ago. When did the pictures shown on the car you are selling taken? Is that Corvair still available?
