OVERVIEW
This 1991 Volkswagen LT 35 is a cab-over commercial pickup powered by a carbureted 2.4-liter gas I6 mated to a five-speed manual transmission. It originated in the European market as a fire truck and was imported to the United States later in life prior to the seller’s ownership. Features include auxiliary lighting, a roof-top tent, a back-up camera, a covered cargo area, a diesel heater, a dually rear axle, and front disc brakes. Finished in red over a gray and tan vinyl interior, this first-generation Volkswagen LT is now offered with a clean CARFAX report and a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The red exterior has contrasting black bumpers, mirror caps, and surrounding trim. Features include auxiliary lighting, a side-mounted ladder, a roof-top tent, fold-out bed sides, VW-branded rear mud flaps, and a European-style trailer hitch. The cargo area is set up as a modular living space and is enclosed by a tubular framework and vinyl flaps. Climate control is provided by a diesel-powered heater.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Steel 14-inch wheels are wrapped in 185-series Goodyear and Maxxis tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The interior of the cab is fitted with a mix of gray and tan vinyl bucket seats up front, a bench in the rear, and gray door panels and carpeted floor mats. Features include aluminum door step plates, manual-crank windows, a radio, and a back-up camera feed integrated into the rearview mirror. The cargo area contains a mattress on a platform; the wooden bed floor has been stained and treated.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation includes a 140-km/h (approximately 87-mph) speedometer and gauges for the fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit mechanical odometer has rolled over and reads 57,652 kilometers, which equates to 157,652 kilometers (97,960 miles).
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The carbureted 2.4-liter gas I6 is mounted under the cab. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a floor-shifted five-speed manual transmission.
UNDERCARRIAGE
Stopping power comes from disc brakes up front and drums in the rear. A spare tire is located under the cargo area.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The CARFAX report begins in 2022 and shows accident-free ownership in Oregon. An emissions inspection was completed in March 2024.

@Kolcott65 – The pictures are all from Europe. Why no pictures with it in America? ...
Good question, and I can honestly not even answer it. Never got to it I guess and now that it needs to go, the time wasn’t there to do a proper shoot.

@Thunderegg – Is this a private party sale or dealer? Any more pics of the cargo area? Maybe vinyl rolled up? Videos (Cold start, Walkaround, Driving, etc)? ...
It’s in private hands, no worries. The pics you see are the only ones that exist.

The opportunity is matchless. Don’t let it slip out under your fingers to own one of the rarest and fairest VW trucks in the United States. „Big Red“ is a honest and reliable mule that will never bite its feeding hand. It’s German! So it can only be performing!
@1992syncro – Hi, did you have it repainted? was there any rust areas? (going by the undercoating that has been done) Thank You. ...
It is all original paint. The underbody was sealed with undercoating regularly as yearly maintenance. That way rust never had a chance so it will remain clean for very long.

Is there a reserve on the vehicle? What is the location address to see the cost of shipping?
@Oldschool – Would you know who has the kit for adding ac. Is that something the dealer may have ? ...
I don’t think the dealer has a complete kit to offer since these never came with A/C. But there is many universal kits available from several aftermarket manufacturers.
@Thunderegg – Clean Oregon Title? ...
Yes

@Oldschool – Does it have air conditioning? ...
Unfortunately, it does not. These trucks never came with one. Though, it could be retrofitted easily with an aftermarket option.
