Vehicle Story

This 1951 Mercury Woody Wagon comes from the California seller's collection and underwent a restoration in 2015.  Power is provided by a 239ci V8 paired with a column-shifted 3-speed manual transmission, and the car is finished in black with Bird’s Eye Maple wood grain paneling over a professionally reupholstered red leather interior.  This Woody is offered with its original 1951 California black plates and a clean Montana title in the seller’s name.

At the time of the restoration in 2015, the body was repainted in black, and the factory-correct Bird’s Eye Maple wood grain paneling was refinished, both to a high degree of detail per the seller.  Exterior features include chrome bumpers, proper brightwork, dropdown tailgate with Continental kit, a driver-side mirror, and dual exhaust.

Factory 15” steel wheels with chrome covers, trim rings, and Mercury center caps are wrapped in wide-whitewall tires.

Interior trim consists of reupholstered red leather, newer red cloth headliner, a metal dash with woodgrain, and chrome accents, and black carpet with red piping. The push-button radio has been customized to allow for smartphone or music device plug-in and connectivity.

Instrumentation includes a 110-mph speedometer and gauges for oil pressure, fuel level, coolant temperature, and voltage.  An aftermarket temperature gauge is installed below the dash because the factory unit is not operational. The 5-digit odometer reads approximately 18k miles, 800 of which have been added by the seller over his two-year ownership. True mileage is not known.

The 239ci V8 has been mechanically refurbished and painted green as part of the restoration effort.  Upgrades include a modern core radiator with an electric fan and a conversion to a 12-volt electrical system.  Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a 3-speed manual transmission.

A never-installed passenger-side mirror will go with the car.

@tasmaniandevil – Thank you Mr. seller. Do not want overdrive.conventional gearing nicer for my driving. Not new a t the flathead game and have a 51 convert. ...

Hello, The car functions very well with the Std trans. Shifts nicely. Cruises at 55 easily. Electric fan helps keep temps in the green. Car is very tight and drives as you would expect a brand new one to. No rattles, doors and windows tight and solid. Over 125,000.00 was spent on its resurrection. Probably less then 1000 miles since. Class winner in 2019 at the Cayucos Car Show near us. A little Beach town that loves Woodies. Thanks
