AACA-Winning 1959 Ford Galaxie Skyliner

This 1959 Ford 500 Galaxie Skyliner underwent a body-off restoration by renowned Ford collector Jerry Capizzi in the 1990s, and was a first prize and grand national winner at the Antique Automobile Club shows in 1999 and 2000, respectively. After spending some time in the Cappy Collection, the car was sold to a private collector in 2005, prior to the selling dealer acquiring it in 2019. New old stock parts were used and factory correctness was prioritized in the concourse-level restoration. Power is supplied by a High-Output 352ci V8 mated to a 3-speed Cruise-O-Matic transmission. A recent fuel system service and carburetor rebuild have been performed, and a new battery installed. This Skyliner shows 99 miles since completion of the restoration and is offered by the selling dealer with a clear New Jersey title.

Finished in Geranium over Colonial white, the body was repainted during the restoration in the 90s. The convertible hardtop retracts under the decklid, and the system has been fully serviced, and all components of the system function with no issue; a video showing its operation is provided by the seller. Galaxie'' badging is found on the rear and tail fins, with additional Skyliner badging on the B-pillars. Brightwork includes visored spotlight mirrors, a Flying Ellipse hood ornament, rear-wheel skirts, bumpers, and more.

 BFGoodrich Silvertown Whitewall tires are mounted on 8"x14" wheels with Sunray tri-colored caps. A full-size spare is housed inside the body-color hardcover, and the car's show-winning badges are affixed to the chrome grille.

The split and folding power front seats and the rear bench are covered in Radiant Geranium Sof-Textured Vinyl Bolsters and Raven-Striped Nu Fabric with Silver Strand. Additional amenities include power windows, factory air conditioning, and a luggage storage unit in the trunk. Any hardware replaced during the restoration was obtained from new old stock.

The color-matching, three-spoke steering wheel fronts a column shift lever and a factory instrument panel, including a sweep-style 120-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 99 miles, which is mileage since the completion of the restoration.

Power comes from a 352ci "high-output Thunderbird Special V8 (an "H" code power option) that puts out 300hp and is paired with a column-shifted 3-Speed Cruise-O-Matic transmission. All hardware and components are factory correct the engine bay is highly detailed. The selling dealer has recently serviced the fuel system, rebuilt the carburetor, and fitted a new battery.

Stopping power is provided by "Swift Sure" power brakes and the power steering was serviced recently. Photos showing the condition of the undercarriage are provided in the gallery.
