Vehicle Story

This 1985 GMC Suburban Sierra Classic was purchased by the seller from the original California owner seven years ago, following a detailed mechanical and cosmetic restoration. A new crate 454ci V8 was installed and paired with a new Turbo 400 automatic transmission and new accessories included a radiator, power steering pump, master cylinder and booster, complete exhaust system, air conditioning compressor, and more. A two-tone Indian Bronze and beige repaint was applied, and the vehicle benefits from a refurbished interior, new shocks, wheels, tires, and rear air. This seventh-generation square-body Suburban is now offered with a CARFAX report and a clear Texas title in the seller’s name.

The body was resprayed in its original color combination of two-tone Indian Bronze and beige at the time of the restoration, and the grille, mirrors, and exterior trim were replaced at the same time. Bumpers, side view mirrors, and factory-correct Sierra Classic badges are all in excellent condition per the seller. A receiver hitch is installed below the rear bumper.

16” American Racing aluminum wheels are wrapped in new BFGoodrich T/A tires. The brake master cylinder and booster were replaced by the previous owner.

The interior is fitted with two rows of reupholstered light brown vinyl bench seats with matching door panels and flooring, a crack-free dash, and tan carpet has been cut to fit over the floor up front. Convenience equipment includes factory front and rear air conditioning, a Pioneer CD head unit, tinted windows, power locks, and power windows, including the electric tailgate glass. The cargo compartment is fully carpeted and contains the factory spare tire and associated jack equipment.

Instrumentation is framed by a 2-spoke steering wheel and consists of an 85-mph speedometer and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The 5-digit mechanical odometer reads approximately 82k miles, but the CARFAX report reveals that true mileage is likely 182k.

The 454ci V8 is a replacement crate unit installed with all-new accessories, including a radiator, air conditioning compressor, power steering pump, and more. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a replacement Turbo 400 automatic transmission with a column-mounted shift lever.

The exhaust system from the headers to the exit tips was replaced under prior ownership, and newer KYB shocks can be found at all four corners. Additional photos showing the condition of the undercarriage are provided in the gallery.

The CARFAX report documents California registration from 1991 to January 2015, when registered and titled in Texas. Documented mileage readings show that the 5-digit odometer has rolled.

@4chiliking – Great looking Suburban! I’m wondering if there’s documentation for the replacement engine and transmission? Are all the power windows, door locks and air conditioning working as they should? I appreciate your help. ...

Thank you very much. When I purchased this from the estate of the original owner I received well over $20,000 worth of receipts. Motor, transmission, paint and everything else that had been done. That has been over seven years ago and I am not 100% sure I can still put my hands on them but will be happy to look. Everything on this Suburban works just as it should. All locks and windows including power tailgate window work perfectly and both A/C s blow ice cold.
