This 1981 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 has undergone a restoration that included a professional repaint, reupholstered interior, new tires, and the addition of a modern audio system. Power is delivered by a 4.2-liter inline-6 paired with a 4-speed manual transmission, and a full-length roof rack is fitted. Finished in Olive Green over a new black vinyl interior, this FJ40 is now offered with a clean CARFAX report and a clear Virginia title.
The FJ is finished in a tri-tone color palette with an Olive Green body, white roof and grille surround, and black tubular bumpers and roof rack. It has factory-applied badging in the correct locations and auxiliary fog lamps have been added to the front bumper. A full-size spare tire is mounted to the rear, along with a tow hitch receiver and a single-outlet exhaust.
Factory 15” white-painted steel wheels with polished center caps are wrapped in Michelin tires of unknown age.
The interior is fitted with reupholstered black vinyl bucket seats and dark gray vinyl door panels. A gray vinyl material covers the floor and the footwells have aftermarket rubber mats installed. Accessories include a roll bar, factory air conditioning, and a modern AM/FM/CD head unit mounted in the center console.
Instrumentation is framed by a 3-spoke steering wheel and consists of an 85-mph speedometer and gauges for oil pressure, fuel level, coolant temperature, and voltage. The 6-digit mechanical odometer shows approximately 110k miles, which the selling dealer asserts is accurate.
The carbureted 4.2-liter inline-6 was factory-rated at 135 horsepower and 210 lb-ft of torque when new and it is paired with a 4-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case.
The CARFAX report shows no history of accidents or damage, a passing Virginia state safety inspection in March 2020, and an initial U.S. record in 1992 with the Washington DC Motor Vehicle Department in 1992.
