Reserve Removed: 1970 Ford Torino GT Convertible

This 1970 Ford Torino GT was manufactured in September 1969 and is one of 3,939 convertibles produced for the year. It is powered by an electronically fuel-injected 302ci V8 paired with an automatic transmission. Features include chrome valve covers, a custom-built alternator, and Bluetooth audio, and new items consist of an intake manifold, exhaust system, battery, fuel tank, springs and shocks, brakes, aftermarket wheels, and tires. Finished in Bright Yellow with a white cloth top over a brown vinyl interior, this Torino GT is now offered with service records, a build sheet, an owner’s manual, the stock wheels and tires, and a clear Michigan title in the seller’s name.

The body is finished in Bright Yellow with a white cloth retractable top and GT trim, including the model-specific hood scoop, color-keyed mirrors, side badging, and full-width taillamp. The front and rear bumpers are chrome, and the rear is new. The seller reports that the rubber around the windshield could use replacement.

American Racing 15” polished aluminum 5-spoke wheels are wrapped in newer 225/60 BFGoodrich Radial T/A raised-white-letter tires. Per the seller, the brakes were replaced within the past 1k miles, as were the springs and shocks. The stock wheels and tires will go with the car.

The interior is trimmed in brown vinyl over a split bench with matching door panels, dash, and carpeting. A modern audio system with Bluetooth connectivity is installed, and the seller points out a small dent in the dash. An unfinished replacement dash piece will go with the car.

Instrumentation is framed by a factory 2-spoke steering wheel and consists of a 120-mph speedometer and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The 5-digit mechanical odometer shows approximately 46k miles, though true chassis mileage is unknown.

The 302ci V8 has been converted to electronic fuel injection and features chrome valve covers, a custom-built alternator, and a new intake manifold, fuel tank, battery, and exhaust system from the manifold back. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a C6 3-speed automatic transmission and a column-mounted shift lever.  

The sale includes the car’s original rear bumper as well as documentation on the vehicle, an original build sheet, an owner’s manual, and service records.
