This 1964 Ford Thunderbird is a largely original convertible with a power-operated top, newer audio system, chrome wheels, and power amenities. It is powered by a matching-numbers 390ci V8 paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission. Finished in Rangoon Red with a white top over a red vinyl interior, this Thunderbird has been with the seller for more than two decades and is now offered with a clear Washington title.
The body was professionally resprayed in Rangoon Red (J) and the top hydraulics have been repaired such that it operates as it should. Exterior features include a chrome front bumper, headlight surrounds, side-view mirrors, and windshield trim, as well as a dual exhaust. The seller reports that the paint shows well and photos of the cloth top show some discoloration and separation of the stitching.
Chrome-finished 15” Centec wheels are wrapped in Grand Prix Performance GT tires.
The interior is equipped with red vinyl power-adjustable bucket seats with matching door panels and carpeting. A full-length factory center console extends from the dash through the center of the cabin and is accented with stainless-steel trim. A modern aftermarket radio is fitted and wired to a 10-disc CD changer mounted underneath the driver seat. The seller reports that the interior is in overall good condition aside from faded carpet and some wear on the armrest.
Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer along with gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, oil pressure, and voltage. The 5-digit mechanical odometer shows approximately 72k miles, which the seller asserts is accurate.
The matching-numbers 390ci V8 is equipped with a 4-barrel carburetor and was factory-rated at 300 horsepower when new. There are no known issues or leaks per the seller. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a 3-speed Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission and a column-mounted shift lever.
The seller provides the following trim tag identification information: Body 76A; Color J; Trim 55.
