This 1975 Mercedes-Benz 450SL is an unmodified convertible with a consistent maintenance history that is powered by its original 4.5-liter V8 paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission. It was manufactured in July 1976 and comes with both a power-retractable soft top as well as a color-matched factory hardtop. Finished in Ivory over a tan MB-Tex interior, this R107 has been with the seller for nine years and is now offered with a clear North Carolina title.
The body is finished in Ivory with contrasting black trim and chrome accents. The seller reports that the cloth soft top has some holes in it but the exterior otherwise shows well. A factory color-matched hardtop is included with the sale.
Factory 14” wheels are wrapped in newer Michelin tires with good tread remaining.
The interior is fitted with tan MB-Tex bucket seats with matching door panels, a two-tone tan and black dash, and tan carpet. Amenities include woodgrain accents, cruise control, a working original Becker AM/FM radio, power windows, power door locks, and automatic climate control. The air conditioning system has been retrofitted to R134A as of 2003, though the compressor is not currently functional. The seller indicates that the windshield wiper system requires repair and there is a small hole in the flooring near the brake pedal.
Instrumentation is framed by a 4-spoke steering wheel and consists of a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k tachometer, an analog clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, and oil pressure. The 6-digit mechanical odometer shows approximately 151k miles, which the seller asserts is accurate.
The 4.5-liter V8 is original to the vehicle and was factory-rated at 180 horsepower when new. The seller states that there are no known mechanical issues at this time and that the car has been maintained with oil changes every 3k miles. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a 3-speed automatic transmission with a gated console-mounted shift lever.
Additional photos showing the underside are available in the gallery.
The sale includes the car’s Ivory removable hardtop.

@MtnMama – Shes a beautiful car- Dont let anyone hassle you! Glad to see you dont.. The Germans dont mess around these are wonderful cars Ill never understand the market and the appreciation for these gems... Does she handle well? Plenty of power and compression? No issues with the transmission? Thank you . ...
She is on the road now and there is not one issue with anything mechanically. The power is there, the compression is there and to be specific with all three questions the transmission as well. My friend and I should have cleaned it up better before we posted it but we didn’t. Our bad mistake/laziness. Anybody that wants one of these vehicles; with not a lot of effort it could be a literal gem..
