Vehicle Story

This Brazilian-imported 1994 Volkswagen “Kombi” Bus is mechanically sorted, cosmetically well-kept, and stock in configuration, having been legally brought to the United States leveraging the 25-year-old threshold which is in effect for passenger vehicles. While the Type 2 Bus of this body style was last sold in the United States in 1979, it continued to be marketed in Central and South America through model year 2013. This example is powered by a rear-mounted, dual-carbureted 1,600cc inline-4 that is coupled with a 4-speed manual transaxle and is reported to run and drive well. This Kombi is a largely original example in Cool White over black vinyl that is now offered with a clear Florida title in the seller’s name.

This Kombi Bus wears a Cool White exterior paint finish, and per the seller does not have any noteworthy damage, corrosion, or wear considering the age of the vehicle. Trim is finished in a contrasting black shade for the front and rear bumpers, headlight surrounds, handles, sideview mirrors, and multi-window trim. The front end features an embossed VW logo and a black-finished air intake between amber market lamps, and the passenger side has barn-door style entry doors for access into the cargo area, while the driver side has a single door at the front of the cabin.

Factory 14” wheels with color-matched Cool White hubcaps are wrapped in newly installed tires. The seller indicates that the suspension is in good condition.

The interior is fitted with black vinyl seating surfaces, along with matching door panels, dash, and carpeting. The front of the cabin has a bucket-seat configuration while the second row is a bench, with a cargo compartment at the far rear. The seller reports that the upholstery finishes are original and in good condition. Steering is controlled by a 2-spoke wheel and interior amenities include a glove compartment and wing windows.

Instrumentation is provided by VDO gauges and is comprised of a 90-mph speedometer, a fuel gauge, and warning lights for other vehicle systems. The 6-digit mechanical odometer reads 100k miles, which the seller asserts is the actual true mileage on the vehicle.

The air-cooled, rear-mounted, and fuel-injected 1.6-liter flat-4 boxer engine features dual carburetors and is reported to be mechanically sound per the seller. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a 4-speed manual transaxle and a floor-mounted shift lever.

She looks well kept and properly sorted out. What is the diameter of the throttle bodies? Who is the OEM? Appears to be stock breather canisters - any issues here? Best, Deano911
