Vehicle Story

This 1966 Chrysler 300 is a second-year second-generation non-letter series two-door hardtop that is reported to have remained with one family since new. Powered by a 325-horsepower 383ci engine mated to 3-speed automatic, the seller lists numerous parts as having been replaced or installed over the preceding 12 years such as brakes, tires, and suspension components, an alternator, fuel pump, fuel filter, valve cover gaskets, and an MSD ignition system. Problems include a bypassed heater core, broken odometer cable, an exhaust system in need of replacement, areas of rust, and flaws within the original interior. This 1966 Chrysler 300 is offered on a clear title in the seller's name.

The Chrysler 300 non-letter series was updated with a new body in 1965 and this 1966 model year hardtop two-door wears Chrysler Formal Black (BB1) paint which is punctuated by chrome trim and bumpers. Windows are free of tint and steel wheels are topped with factory red, white, and blue 300-themed hubcaps and wrapped in BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires. The rear springs and shocks are reported to have been replaced during the seller's ownership.

Exposed portions of the frame have been treated with POR-15, but the seller says other areas will need attention, specifically around the rear wheel wells.

The interior contains original red upholstery and an instrument panel with no radio cutout. The dash is pictured as being free of cracks and the gauge cluster houses a sweeping 120-mph speedometer with smaller dials for the fuel level and coolant temperature below it. The odometer cable is broken and the seller estimates between 100 and 125 miles have been covered since it failed with total mileage unknown.

Front seatbelts were dealer-installed and the seller lists holes and cracks in the driver's seat upholstery along with a hole behind one of the sun visors. Photos of these items are included in the gallery.

Power comes from a Chrysler 383ci V8 topped with a 4bbl Carter carburetor and factory output of 325 horsepower at 4,800 rpm with 428 pound-feet of torque at 2,800. The engine is mated to an optional TorqueFlite 3-speed automatic which is operated by a column shifter. In the preceding 12 years, the seller says the brake lines, rear springs and shocks, alternator, belt, fuel pump, fuel filter, battery, valve cover gaskets, wheel cylinders, and rear drums brake springs were replaced. In 2014, an MSD Street Fire ignition system was installed, complete with a coil, distributor cap, and wires, along with fresh plugs. The heater core leaks and has been bypassed.

Exposed portions of the frame have been treated with POR-15 and seller describes other areas of rust including some by the rear wheel wells.
