Vehicle Story

This 1995 Mercedes-Benz E320 cabriolet was manufactured in January of its model year and sold to its first owner two months later in March. Fitted with a recently replaced top at a cost of $2,000 per the seller, the odometer displays 26,934 miles and equipment includes heated seats, automatic climate control, headlamp wipers, dual front airbags, and power-adjustable seats with memory for the driver. Specifications remain unmodified from stock such as a stock Mercedes-Benz tape deck, eight-hole aluminum wheels, and more. Finished in black on black, this late-model C124 is powered 3.2-liter DOHC 24-valve inline-six mated to a 4G-Tronic transmission and offered on a branded title owing to a two-mile odometer discrepancy in 2015.

This E320 is a late-model cabriolet and the finish is the quintessential Mercedes offering of the period of black over black leather with a matching power-operated soft top. The seller describes the top as having been recently repaired at a cost of $2,000, and photos with it in place and stowed are available for viewing in the gallery. Lighting remains unchanged from stock including self-cleaning tail lamps. Twin tailpipes exit below the driver's side of the rear bumper.

Wheels are a set of factory-offered eight-hole aluminum items which are listed on the car's build sheet.

The interior is upholstered in black leather and trimmed with high-gloss wood which appears in such places as the door panels, center console, and instrument panel. Interior equipment highlights include a factory Mercedes-Benz tape deck, automatic climate control with cold air conditioning, and heated-powered adjustable front seats with position memory for the driver's side.

A four-spoke airbag steering wheel fronts the gauge cluster which contains a 160-mph speedometer, 7,000-rpm tachometer, a clock, and smaller instruments for fuel, coolant temperature, and oil pressure, while a series of indicator lights line the bottom. The analog odometer displays 26,934 miles. The CARFAX report highlights a branded title and documents a two-mile discrepancy in November of 2015.

The engine is a Mercedes-Benz M104 DOHC 24-valve inline-six which is mated to a 4G-Tronic transmission. Output when new was 217 horsepower at 5,500 rpm with 229 pound-feet of torque at 3,750. The seller says the battery was recently replaced.

A Bentley Publishers reference book covering the W124 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is included, along with the original owner's manual, supplement, and accompanying literature.

Is the car drivable? If so, is it reliable enough to make a 1500 mile trip home?

Hello Sir! These are great cars! I owned a silver 1993 with navy blue top and interior and quite familiar with what it takes to properly maintain one... I understand you’re the 2nd owner since 2015? Are you able to supply the maintenance records from the original owner as well? I look forward to your response as this auction is ending tomorrow afternoon... Thank you!

Good morning, I live in Phoenix but am traveling until the middle of August. As you know this is not a bad time to travel if you live there. If I were to buy your lovely 320, would it be possible for you to store it until I return?

@joemac1015 – I'm wondering how many owners the car has had. Also, how old are the tires? Is there an explanation behind the odometer discrepancy? Lastly, would it be possible to see the vehicle in person on Monday (I realize it's a holiday weekend, so that maybe a tough ask)? ...

I’d make myself Available early Monday to view. I’m 2nd owner. Title is not an issue and I will cure its error.

This branded title for miles makes no sense . In car terms this is called a salvage title something is very wrong here. 11/19/15 could have been just a mistake of two miles that doesn't get a car to have a branded title If I were you get the title issue straightened out and rerun this beautiful car you'll get a lot more money I wouldn't bid on it this way and the car is worth much more than $15 K FYI this was the last Mercedes that was hand built at the factory

The perceived issue with title —- I have a meeting with AZDOT Tuesday to get it corrected. The carfax from 2016 when I purchased the vehicle is clean. I’ve put less than 5,000 miles on it since and guarantee there’s never been a scratch added. I will give a successful buyer a guaranteed buyback if not satisfied.

There never has been any accident. I’m not familiar with “branded title”.

The top only has Low wear due to the low mileage. It’s like new but the hydraulics were replaced. Now sure why this reads “replaced”. Top is beautiful. And operates perfectly.

Actual Mileage. As indicated. DOT does their thing and maintenance history at Mercedes tells the real story. This car is nothing but clean.

@Donkster – Good Morning. Can you or do you have an explanation for the Carfax “Branded” title issue? Do you know if the following are working correctly; Cruise control, seat controls and memory, seat belt presenters, roll bar activation, seat heaters, power antennae, window switches , side mirror remote, air conditioning and automatic temp control? Head gasket replaced or needed. Thank you ...

Everything in working order - the seat belt presenter on driver side works but the plastic holder is cracked but has no affect on any operation. Carfax will be for the purpose of verifying the low actual mileage for this very fine vehicle.
