This 1957 Ford Thunderbird two-door convertible has covered only 500 miles since a mechanical rebuild of its Windsor 351ci V8 and comes equipped with a color-matched removable hardtop, custom alloy wheels, an air conditioning system, and reupholstered seating. The refurbishment work was performed by the previous owner prior to the seller's purchase six years ago, and the car is fitted with performance headers and Ford Racing valve covers and delivers power via a C4 3-speed automatic transmission. Finished in Deep Teal Metallic over a two-tone black and gray vinyl interior, this first-generation Thunderbird is now offered with a clear California title in the seller’s name.
This Thunderbird rides on an all-new front clip and was professionally resprayed in Deep Teal Metallic under prior ownership. Per the seller, the car shows a high-quality finish throughout. The iconic shape is accentuated by a hood scoop, fender grates, modest tailfins, and dual rounded taillamps. This example is capped by a color-matched removable hardtop with porthole windows and wears chrome bumpers, window surrounds, door handles, mirrors, and badging. Dual exhaust outlets are integrated within each corner of the rear bumper.
Aftermarket five-spoke polished aluminum wheels are wrapped in tires of unknown brand and age. Power disc brakes were added under 8k miles ago, and handling is aided by a power rack and pinion steering system. The seller reports that the emergency brake requires a leverage bar in order to function smoothly.
The interior is equipped with reupholstered two-tone black and gray vinyl seating for two, split by a matching black center console with integrated cup holders and a storage bin. The door panels and headliner have been trimmed in the same materials, and are contrasted by replacement black carpeting. The metal dash matches the exterior teal finish with a brushed aluminum trim panel and topped with a black pad. Amenities include air conditioning, a stereo, and a tilt steering column with a leather wrap.
Instrumentation is provided by a series of AutoMeter aftermarket gauges, centered around a white-faced 160-mph speedometer and flanked by additional gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The digital odometer reads approximately 7k miles, though true chassis mileage is unknown.
The Windsor 351ci V8 is equipped with custom performance headers, a chrome-finished air cleaner, and Ford Racing valve covers. The seller indicates that the vehicle has been driven an estimated 500 miles since being fully rebuilt. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a C4 3-speed automatic transmission and a 9” positraction rear end with a 3.00:1 gear ratio.
