NCRS-Winning 1954 Chevrolet Corvette

This 1954 Chevrolet Corvette has been with its owner since 2013 and is described as a restored example which received a National Corvette Restorers Society score of 94 along with a Top Flight Award in 1997. Power comes from a 235ci Blue-Flame six fed by triple Carter carburetors which is backed by a 2-speed PowerGlide, and options include an AM signal seeking radio, turn signals, and whitewall tires. Finished in Polo White over a Sportsman Red interior, this Corvette is accompanied by framed documentation from its 2013 sale, its Top Flight Award, an NCRS Scoring Summary, among additional documentation.

This second-year Corvette is finished in Polo White and has been scrutinized by the NCRS as being worthy of a Top Flight Award, receiving 94% of an available 4,500 points in August of 1997. A retractable tan cloth top folds into a white tonneau cover, and removable side windows are included. Exterior brightwork is described as being in excellent condition, including factory mesh headlight grilles, a chrome grille, bumperettes front and rear, and side moldings. Dual exhaust outlets exit through the rear bodywork, and this Corvette is described as having been the subject of an extensive frame-off, nut-and-bolt restoration prior to receiving the aforementioned NCRS recognition.

Factory red 15” steel wheels with polished covers are wrapped in BF Goodrich Silvertown wide whitewall tires, which were optional in 1954 (290B) at a cost of $26.90.

The interior is fitted with Sportsman Red vinyl bucket seats, along with matching door panels, a red dash above a body-color instrument panel, and red carpeting. An AM signal-seeking radio (102A) is present, and the condition of the upholstery and all interior finishes are described as excellent, consistent with the car’s Top Flight Award. The trunk is fully detailed as well and comes lined in Sportsman Red vinyl.

Instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer in front of the driver along with a 5,000-rpm tachometer mounted in the center of the instrument panel which is surrounded by an analog clock and gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer displays roughly 400 miles, but original chassis mileage is unknown.

The 235ci Blue-Flame inline-six was rated at 150 horsepower at 4,200 rpm with 223 pound-feet of torque at 2,400 when new and features triple Carter side-draft carburetors with a manual choke. Power is transferred to the 3.55:1 rear end by way of a 2-Speed PowerGlide transmission.
