This 1966 Austin-Healey Sprite is a final-year Mark III powered by a 1,098cc inline-four mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. Maintenance performed during the seller's ownership period includes replacement of the clutch, and the interior is home to an aftermarket three-spoke steering wheel. Wearing a coat of British Racing Green paint with a removable black top over a black vinyl interior, this Sprite is offered with a tonneau cover and on a clear Wisconsin title in the seller’s name.
This Sprite comes from the final model year of the Mark III, which featured a newly-introduced curved windscreen, hinged wing-windows, and exterior door handles from 1964 to 1966. This example is finished in British Racing Green and comes with a removable soft convertible top as well as a black vinyl tonneau cover. Brightwork includes the front and rear bumpers with overriders, the grille, window surrounds, a fender-mounted driver's mirror, a trunk-mounted luggage rack, and more. The paint is reported to be in fair condition by the seller, with photos capturing various details available for viewing in the carousel.
A set of 13” steel wheels with chrome-finished hub caps are wrapped in Pirelli D4 tires.
The interior houses seats upholstered in black vinyl with white piping. Instrument panel-mounted toggle switches are labeled, and a three-spoke steering wheel with an Austin-Healey center insignia was installed during the seller's ownership. The carpet-lined trunk holds a spare tire.
Gauges are factory-sourced from Smiths and include a 100-mph speedometer, a 7,000-rpm tachometer, and readouts for coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 98k miles.
The 1,098cc inline-four is a dual-carbureted replacement engine that was reportedly installed under the direction of a previous owner. Subsequent maintenance has included regular servicing by the current owner, with larger mechanical needs, including a recent clutch replacement, carried out by a specialty shop called MG Limited. The seller indicates that the motor has an oil leak. Power is fed to the rear wheels by a 4-speed manual transmission.
Photos showing the underside are can be viewed in the carousel.
The sale includes a tonneau cover and a removable soft top.
