Vehicle Story

This 1970 Plymouth Fury III is one of 1,952 convertibles produced for its model year and is powered by a Chrysler 383ci V8 topped by a four-barrel carburetor, which is mated to a 3-Speed TorqueFlite automatic. Described as a matching-numbers example, the seller lists factory options in the form of bucket seats, a center console, power windows, Rallye wheels, an 8 Track player, and air conditioning, along with modifications in the form of an aftermarket intake manifold and an Edelbrock carburetor. Maintenance performed during the seller's ownership has included replacement of the brakes, suspension dampers, and a front-end rebuild. Originally finished in factory-offered Burnt Orange, this 1970 Plymouth Fury III convertible was repainted in Chrysler B5 Blue in 2019 and is offered on a clear Florida title in the seller's name.

This was the final model year of the fifth-generation Plymouth Fury convertible, and 6,081 were produced from 1969 through 1970, with 1,952 of those for the final year. This example is said to have left the factory wearing Chrysler's Burnt Orange (K3) paint, but was resprayed Blue Fire (B5), a factory-offered MOPAR color from 1969 to 1973. A black soft top contrasts the body along with brightwork in the form of bumpers, trim, window surrounds, and mirrors. Quad headlights are hidden behind movable covers, the hood wears a 383 badge, and Fury III scripts adorn the rear portions of the front fenders.

Wheels are a set of factory slotted Rallye items complete with hubcaps which come wrapped in Goodyear Wrangler RS-A tires replaced roughly four years prior per the seller.

The cabin remains largely unchanged from factory specification but contains upholstery that is ready to be replaced according to the seller. Optional front bucket seats are divided by a woodgrain-trimmed center console which also houses the shifter for the TorqueFlite 3-speed. Windows are power-operated and functional, and the seller reports that the factory-optioned 8 Track deck and air conditioning are inoperative.

The gauge cluster is viewed through the factory three-spoke steering wheel and contains a 120-mph speedometer and a clock in addition to smaller readouts for alternator voltage, coolant temperature, and fuel level.

Power comes courtesy of a Chrysler 383ci B V8 which had an output of 290 gross horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque when equipped with a two-barrel carburetor, or 330 horsepower and 425 pound-feet when fueled by a four-barrel. Modifications to this Fury III include an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor mounted atop a Weiand intake manifold, while a Chrysler 727 TorqueFlite 3-speed negotiates power to the rear axle. The seller lists maintenance in the form of replaced suspension dampers, a front-end suspension and steering rebuild, and replacement of the front and rear brake components.

Additional photos of the undercarriage are available for viewing in the gallery.

This 1970 Plymouth Fury III is offered on a clear Florida title in the seller's name.

They are the original seat coverings as show in one of the interior photos shown here. I believe the original type material is vinyl. I will add a pic of the passenger seat w/o cover. Rear seat is cracked on surface and is original covering.

Question on the interior, what is the condition of the seats under the covers. Also, are the seats leather or vinyl?

Undercarriage is solid, front frame section is solid. It was undercoated from the factory.
