This 1980 MG MGB has been owned by the seller since 1990 and is presented as a 53,000-mile, unmodified roadster with reupholstered seats and newer paint finishes. The B-Series 1.8-liter inline-four is upgraded with a performance carburetor and delivers power by way of a 4-speed manual transmission. Finished in red over a black vinyl interior, this final-year MGB is now offered with service records and a clear Pennsylvania title in the seller’s name.
Manufactured by the British Motor Corporation in England beginning in 1962, the MGB had an initial series production run through the model year 1980. This example comes from the final year and was reportedly subject to a red exterior respray in 2015. According to the seller, this MGB originated in the south and the body is free of rust, having been accented by black bumpers, stainless-steel side moldings, and black MGB-branded decals. The black canvas retractable top has reportedly been replaced, and a chrome-finished luggage rack finishes off the rear end.
Factory 14” wheels are mounted to tires that were reportedly replaced in 2015. Stopping power comes from 11-inch disc brakes upfront and drums in the rear.
The interior features reupholstered black vinyl bucket seats with matching door panels, dash, center console, and carpeting. The seller states that there is minor cracking on the driver seat upholstery but the remainder of the finishes are in good condition throughout. The trunk houses a full-size spare.
Instrumentation is comprised of an 85-mph speedometer, a 7,000-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and accompanying gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The six-digit mechanical odometer reads 53k miles, which per the seller is a true reading.
The factory-original B-Series 1.8-liter inline-four was originally rated at 95 horsepower and reportedly been outfitted with a performance carburetor as well as replacement wiring. An oil change was performed in summer 2020. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a 4-speed manual transmission.
The sale includes service records.
