This 1979 Ford Pinto Squire Wagon is said to have originated on the East Coast before being added to a private collection and given a partial restoration in California in 2015. Sold with accompanying receipts, invoices, and photos documenting the work, power comes from a 2.3-liter Ford Lima SOHC four-cylinder mated to a 3-speed automatic, and the seller describes sound running condition and no fluid leaks from the drivetrain. Finished in a respray of factory-offered Tangerine with faux wood paneling over a custom orange and black houndstooth interior, this 1979 Ford Pinto Squire Wagon is offered for sale from San Diego, California.
The seller describes the current Tangerine exterior finish as a respray performed as part of the 2015 restoration. Wood paneling was standard for the Pinto Squire Wagon, just like its larger corporate stablemate, the Ford LTD Country Squire. Large DOT-mandated five-mph impact bumpers are mounted front and rear, and a roof rack is also present. Beltline trim has been added to the sides and the blue and yellow California plates visible in the photos will be retained by the seller.
The set of wheels are among several factory-offered designs but have been refinished.
The orange exterior color scheme is continued inside the cabin where the seats were reupholstered with black and orange houndstooth cloth inserts and vinyl orange panels. The black dash and carpeting provide contrast and equipment includes a Ford AM/FM stereo and air conditioning, but the latter is described as inoperative.
The gauge cluster houses an 80-mph speedometer and a fuel gauge, while indicator lights monitor other vehicle systems.
The 2.3-liter SOHC, eight-valve Ford Lima four-cylinder engine had an output of 88 horsepower at 4,800 rpm and 118 pound-feet of torque at 2,800, and was fueled by a Motorcraft two-barrel carburetor when new. The power plant is mated to a 3-speed Ford C3 automatic transmission which sends power to the rear axle and the seller states that maintenance performed during the owner's tenure is documented in an accompanying binder of receipts.
Photos of the vehicle on a lift are available for viewing in the carousel.

@SPEED – Have you had the A/C checked ? Was it retrofit to R 134 ? ...
Hi! Thanks for the interest in the Pinto! The AC has not been retrofitted. It's still a R12 system. The original parts, minus hoses and belts, all appear to be in place. The pulley on the front of the compressor still spins freely. Happy to take any additional photos or videos showing that area. Any other questions or info you're after, just let me know. Thanks!
