1992 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 Convertible Summer Special

This 1992 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 convertible is one of an estimated 2,193 Limited Edition examples produced and has been with its owner since 1994. Ordered with an $850 option package labeled Limited Edition that was initially referred to as the Feature Car and later the Summer Special, specifications include model-specific Vibrant Red paint with a white soft top over a white leather sport seat interior with black piping, a trunk lid spoiler, and 16" aluminum wheels finished in pearlescent white, while options consist of a power driver's seat, air conditioning, and the premium sound system. Powered by a 5.0-liter Ford small-block V8 backed by a 4-speed automatic transmission, this 1992 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 convertible is accompanied by its original window sticker and a clean Florida title. 

The 1992 Ford Mustang Summer Special was sold exclusively in LX 5.0 convertible trim with a Vibrant Red body and a white convertible soft top as seen here. This example has covered 43k miles from new according to the owner who has had it since 1994 and is presented as largely unmodified from factory specification. Dual exhaust with polished finishers exits beneath the rear bumper and the trunk lid wears a spoiler with an integrated third stop lamp that was part of the Summer Special package.

Aluminum 16" wheels with a pearlescent white finish were also exclusive to the Summer Special.

The white leather interior is contrasted by black piping on the upholstery, and the combination was specific to the Summer Special. The front articulating sport seats are divided by a standard center console and options include a power-adjustable driver's seat and air conditioning, along with the premium sound system. The seller says the rear quarter window motors have been replaced. The trunk houses the factory toolkit.

The instrument cluster includes a 7,000-rpm tachometer and a 140-mph speedometer, along with gauges for the coolant temperature, oil pressure, voltage, and fuel level. The five-digital mechanical odometer shows 43k miles which are original per the seller.

The Ford 5.0-liter V8 was rated at 225 horsepower at 4,200 rpm and 300 pound-feet of torque at 3,200 when new and sends power to the rear axle through a Ford AOD 4-speed automatic. The seller says the transmission was repaired in the past by a Ford dealership to remedy a leak, but notes that the transmission has developed another leak.
