Vehicle Story

This 1964 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu two-door hardtop has undergone a mechanical refresh and is powered by a 350ci small-block Chevrolet crate engine paired with a B&M-shifted Turbo 350 3-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes American Racing aluminum wheels, reupholstered Procar seating, Dakota Digital gauges, and a lowered suspension. Characterized by a white exterior over a gray vinyl interior, this first-year Chevelle is offered with a binder of receipts and on a clear Colorado title in the seller’s name.

The Malibu debuted for the 1964 model year on the GM “A-Body” platform, marketed as a larger, body-on-frame sibling to the smaller Chevy II unibody model. This first-year Malibu was reportedly resprayed in white as part of a prior restoration and features a two-door hardtop body style. Brightwork surrounds the perimeter and takes the form of front and rear bumpers, side moldings, and a driver's side mirror, along with scripted Malibu emblems that are affixed to each rear quarter.

American Racing Torque Thrust 15” wheels with polished lips are wrapped in 225-section BFGoodrich tires. The braking system consists of four-wheel drums, and power rack and pinion steering has been added. Ride height been dropped with lowering springs.

The interior was reupholstered with gray vinyl Procar seats in the front, while the door panels, dash pad, and carpeting are finished in contrasting black. Aluminum trim encompasses the instrument cluster and extends toward the passenger side of the dash. Amenities include a vintage-look AM/FM radio and an aftermarket Ididit three-spoke steering wheel.

Vehicle vitals are conveyed by Dakota Digital gauges with white dials and blue backlighting. The three main gauges contain a 160-mph speedometer, an 8,000-rpm tachometer, and a combination fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and voltage gauge. The digital odometer reads shows approximately 400 miles, but total chassis mileage is unknown.

The 350ci small-block Chevrolet V8 crate engine is dressed with chrome finned valve covers and an Edelbrock air cleaner, and sits behind an aluminum radiator. The seller notes replacement of the fuel tank, and power is fed to the rear wheels by a 3-speed Turbo-Hydramatic 350 operated by a B&M floor-mounted shifter.

Additional undercarriage photos can be found in the gallery.

The sale includes a binder of receipts, invoices, and other documentation.

The springs were on the car when I acquired it and they did not show signs of being cut, so I’m pretty sure they were bought to lower the stance of the car. The engine is new from ATK, purchased from Summit. It’s a Vortec 350/350HP.
