This 1956 Ford Crown Victoria two-door is a custom build from a long-term collection that has undergone a complete restoration and modification, now offering an air ride suspension, a nosed and decked body design, hand-drawn pinstriping, and much more. Enhancements continue to the interior where late-model bucket seats provide 2+2 reupholstered vinyl seating, and the cabin benefits from the addition of air conditioning, accent lighting, full gauges, and a 10-CD stereo system. This build incorporates the use of a Y-block 292ci V8 paired with an automatic transmission, and the drivetrain features an oversized fan for optimal cooling. Finished in two-tone Deep Purple Metallic and Pearl White over a matching interior, this Crown Victoria is now offered with a clear Ohio title in the seller’s name.
First debuting for 1955, the Crown Victoria two-door was ranked as the flagship trim level of the Ford Fairlane, featuring a bright-trimmed B-pillar in place of the traditional hardtop layout. This example from the subsequent model year was subject to a comprehensive restoration and has been repainted in Deep Purple Metallic and Pearl White, offset by matching pinstriping throughout. The body features a nosed and decked hood, shaved door handles, shaved tail fins, and generous brightwork for the tubular front grille, window sill trim, dual Frenched antennas, and smoothed bumpers. Additional custom touches include white taillight lenses and hand-drawn etching on the bumpers. A continental kit has been added at the rear with swing-away access for the fuel filler, and dual polished exhaust outlets are located below the bumper.
Steel 15” wheels with bright covers are mounted to wide whitewall tires. The suspension is adjustable air ride equipped, managed by controllers on the center console, and handling is assisted by power disc brakes as well as rack and pinion steering.
The interior conveys bucket seating both front and rear in two-tone white and purple vinyl upholstery, with matching purple carpeting and floor mats to complete the aesthetic. The cabin has been modernized with the addition of a custom center console containing controls for the air ride suspension and switches for the under-car and under-dash lighting systems, and the audio system is a modern AM/FM/cassette head unit with a 10-disc CD changer and Pioneer speakers. Additional amenities include air conditioning, power windows, and power-adjustable front seats.
Instrumentation includes a traditional speedometer set up in the driver’s line of sight, as well as aftermarket gauges in the center console illustrating coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 55k miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The Y-block 292ci V8 is housed within a detailed engine bay and features a two-barrel carburetor. The cooling system has been upgraded with an oversized fan, and a mechanical service was reportedly completed two years ago. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via an automatic transmission.
