Vehicle Story

This 1986 Chevrolet Camaro IROC Z/28 has reportedly covered 38,250 miles since new and is described as an all-original, two-owner car that spent time in long-term storage before being brought back to running condition. From the second year of IROC production, this Camaro is powered by a carbureted 305ci small-block Chevrolet V8 backed by a 700R4 4-speed automatic. Finished in yellow with black trim over a gray cloth interior, this third-generation Camaro is offered with a clean CARFAX report, a set of keys, and on a clear Michigan title in the owner's name.

The third-generation Camaro was launched for the 1982 model year on General Motors’ F-body platform, and the IROC (International Race of Champions) was introduced for 1985. This Camaro is described as a two-owner example that was garage-kept for more than 15 years under ownership of the seller’s father. The exterior is said to retain its original yellow paint with black trim and features fog lamps, removable T-top roof panels, front and rear spoilers, and IROC-Z graphics on the rocker panels.

Five-spoke aluminum wheels wear a gold finish on the inside of the spokes and wear tires that were recently replaced according to the seller. The IROC-Z came factory-outfitted with an upgraded suspension, lowered ride height, Delco-Bilstein shocks, and larger diameter sway bars. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes.

The interior is fitted with gray cloth bucket seats with matching door panels, which are contrasted by a black dashboard and carpeting. Features and amenities include air conditioning, power windows, power door locks, and power-adjustable mirrors. The stereo system is the factory-offered Delco AM/FM/cassette deck.

Instrumentation includes a 145-mph speedometer, a 7,000-rpm tachometer, and accompanying gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 38,250 miles, which the seller asserts are original.

Under the hood sits the L69 305ci small-block Chevrolet V8, which had original output of 155 horsepower at 4,200 rpm and 250 pound-feet of torque at 2,000 when equipped with a four-barrel carburetor. The seller says the carburetor has been rebuilt. The drivetrain consists of a 700R4 4-speed automatic.

The CARFAX vehicle history report indicates lifetime ownership in Michigan. The sale includes two sets of keys.

@Nickyboi – Has this vehicle been started and driven lately? I ask because it looks like the radiator overflow tank is completely empty. Also, has it ever been in an accident or has bodywork? If it’s roadworthy, and with no underlying rust issues, underneath or on the body, I’m thinking of bidding. Thanks! ...

Hi: So no, the car has not ever been in any accidents. My parents bought it in 94 from the original owner . My parents rarely drove the car. It was stored after my dad passed, and never put back on road til now. The body is in BEAUTIFUL shape. No rust , dents, or scratches. Oh...and yes it has been driven. I brought it in and had oil changed and the carburator rebuilt due to it sitting. They put it to its original settings. It has been a well cared for vehicle. No young punk street beat stuff here. Who ever gets it will be happy. 🙂

Also, because I forgot on the previous question, do you have any photos of the instrument panel? I didn’t see one and it would be nice to see the gauges, speedometer, odometer, etc. thanks.
