Vehicle Story

This 1975 MG MGB is said to benefit from the replacement of its convertible top and recovered vinyl seats, and is powered by what's described as a rebuilt BMC B-series 1.8-liter line-four mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. Manufactured in England in February 1975, the car comes equipped with a chrome-finished luggage rack, a wooden shift knob, and a radio. Finished in tan over a refurbished brown vinyl interior, this 1975 MG MGB is offered with a vinyl tonneau cover and on a clear Oklahoma title in the seller’s name.

The MGB model debuted in 1962 from the British Motor Corporation and saw some cosmetic changes in the early 1970s, including the replacement of chrome bumpers with a larger impact-resistant design. This MGB saw the replacement of the black vinyl top recently. Brightwork is reported to be in good condition including the headlight rings, side moldings, windshield surround, and trunk-mounted luggage rack.

Wire wheels measure 14” in diameter with hexagonal center caps and are wrapped in 185-section Kumho Solus tires.

The seats are described as original, but reported to have been recovered with replacement vinyl material. The door panels are trimmed in matching material while the black carpeting and padded dash add contrast. The shifter is fitted with a wood knob and a radio is present but not functioning. The trunk contains a spare tire as well as a wheel wrench.

Smiths gauges includes a 120-mph speedometer, a 7,000-rpm tachometer, and smaller instruments for fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 79k miles, but total chassis mileage is unknown.

The BMC B-series 1.8-liter pushrod inline-four developed 63 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 86 pound-feet of torque at 2,500, and is fueled by a single-barrel Zenith carburetor. The engine was rebuilt under prior ownership per the seller, who describes a leak. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive.

Photos showing the underside are available in the carousel.

The sale includes a vinyl tonneau cover, extra black carpeting and touch up paint.
