1966 Ford Mustang 4-Speed

This 1966 Ford Mustang coupe is powered by a rebuilt numbers-matching 289ci V8 paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. Owned long term by the seller's family, this Mustang was passed to the seller about six months ago and has undergone refurbishment or renewal of the braking system, fuel pump, belts, and hoses recently. Finished in dark blue metallic over a blue vinyl interior, this first-generation Mustang is now offered with a clear Florida title in the seller’s name.

The Mustang was launched in mid-1964 as a line of sports coupes and stayed true to the original design through the end of the model year 1966. This example has been resprayed dark blue metallic and according to the seller was transferred from another member of the family after having been garage-kept for the majority of ownership. The cosmetic condition is reportedly good, showcasing corrosion-free brightwork and a straight body. The seller states that there are some scuffs on the hood and the front passenger side fender. A dual exhaust system with polished tips is installed at the rear.

Smoothed mag aluminum wheels have replaced the factory units and are shod in Mastercraft tires. The braking system was treated to a refresh in the form of rebuilt drum brakes and replacement front and rear brake lines. The shocks and struts have also been replaced. 

The interior is trimmed with reupholstered blue vinyl bucket seats with matching door panels, dash, and carpeting. A custom center console was added that features cup holders and additional equipment include a three-spoke steering wheel with the Mustang center insignia, roll-down rear quarter windows, a radio with rear deck-mounted speakers, and a Hurst shift lever.

Instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer, an 8,000-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, voltage, and coolant temperature. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads about 1,000 miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

The rebuilt 289ci V8 is outfitted with aluminum valve covers, a new two-barrel Holley carburetor, and a chrome-finished air cleaner. In this configuration, the powerplant produces 200 horsepower according to the seller. Recent maintenance includes the replacement of the fuel pump, belts, and hoses. Of note, the seller adds that there is some rust present on the engine manifold.  Power is fed to the rear wheels via a 4-speed manual transmission.
