1976 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible

This 1976 Cadillac Eldorado comes from the final year of the Eldorado convertible body style for this generation, offering a power-operated retractable soft top and being driven by a big-block 500ci V8 paired with a 3-speed automatic transaxle. Interior amenities include full-power convenience options, woodgrain trim, an 8-track stereo, and illuminated vanity mirrors. Finished in red over a white leather interior, this ninth-generation Eldorado is now offered with a replacement carpet kit, service records, a shop manual, and a clear California title in the seller’s name.

Launching into the ninth generation beginning in 1971, the Eldorado experienced aesthetic changes each subsequent model year and for 1976, a new grille, revised taillamp lenses, and different badging were incorporated. This example is painted red and per the seller shows some cosmetic wear consistent with age. Exterior finishes are offset by a power-operated white cloth retractable top, and brightwork consists of bumpers with guards, side moldings, window trim, sideview mirrors, and more. The body is rust-free, but the seller has provided detailed close-up images of specific areas with blemishes.

Factory 15” steel wheels with black-painted Cadillac-branded covers are mounted to whitewall tires. Power steering and power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes are equipped.

The interior features power-operated white leather split-bench seating and door panels, complemented by red for the dash, carpeting, and steering wheel. A woodgrain applique is installed on the dash face and the steering wheel center hub, and other amenities include power windows, power door locks, a push-button AM/FM/8-track radio, illuminated vanity mirrors, and factory air conditioning. There is cracking in the driver door panel per the seller, and a replacement carpet kit is included with the sale.

Instrumentation includes a sweeping 100-mph speedometer and a fuel gauge. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 43,791 miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

The fuel-injected big-block 500ci V8 had a factory rating of 190 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque. The engine was tuned up and inspected in January 2021 for overall mechanical roadworthiness. Power is directed to the front wheels via a 3-speed automatic transaxle with a column-mounted shift lever.
