Vehicle Story

This 1965 Plymouth Belvedere II two-door hardtop has been one-family-owned since 2006 and received new upholstery, a repaint, and performance upgrades under the hood that result in a dyno-tested output of 370 horsepower from the drivetrain. The 318ci V8 is paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission and benefits from ceramic headers, electronic ignition, an aluminum radiator, a race camshaft, and more. Finished in Cream White over a reupholstered black vinyl interior, this Belvedere II is now offered with a clear Oklahoma title in the seller’s name.

Beginning in 1965, the Belvedere filled an intermediate spot in the Plymouth lineup and was offered as a sedan, a hardtop, a convertible, or a station wagon. This example has a two-door hardtop body design and was repainted in Cream White, with exterior finishes said to be in good condition throughout. Brightwork is featured for the bumpers, grille, side moldings, window trim, and a dual outlet Flowmaster exhaust system below the rear bumper. The seller states that there are some small blemishes on the front end from rock chips.

Aluminum five-spoke wheels with polished lips are wrapped in BF Goodrich Radial T/A raised-white-letter tires.

The interior is fitted with reupholstered black vinyl bench seating with matching lap belts, door panels, dash, and carpeting. Aluminum trim is present across the face of the dash with a Belvedere II logo at the passenger side. A modern AM/FM/CD head unit is installed below the dash, and shifting is handled by way of a B&M floor-mounted lever.

Instrumentation is provided by square chrome-rimmed gauges within a black bezel, including a 120-mph speedometer and accompanying gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, and more. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 74k miles, although true mileage is unknown.

The 5.2-liter 318ci LA V8 carried an original factory rating of 230 horsepower and 340 lb-ft of torque. This example has been rebuilt and benefits from a list of performance enhancements including a .030 bore, electronic ignition, a competition race camshaft, 2-2 valves, a four-barrel intake manifold, ceramic headers, an aluminum radiator, and a 2800 stall converter. An oil change in 2020 with an estimated 200 miles driven since. The seller states that this powertrain has been dyno-tested to produce 370 horsepower at the wheels. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 3-speed automatic transmission with a 4:11 positraction rear end.

@Smithls1 – Nice looking cruise car. Are there any engine oil or transmission fluid leaks? Any issues with overheating? Would I have confidence in driving it 500 miles to its new home or would you recommend trailering it? Thanks! ...

Thank you for looking , it runs in the normal range , I would trailer just to make sure you have no problems . It has a new four row core aluminum radiator. I have only driven it about ten miles at a time . This car is fun to cruise in , it’s a beautiful car and sounds great !
