This 2002 Honda S2000 is an unmodified roadster has driven 47,920 miles since new and is powered by a 2.0-liter VTEC inline-four with an 8,800-rpm redline backed by a 6-speed manual transmission and a Torsen limited-slip differential. This S2000 was originally sold in September of its model year in Savannah, Georgia and has resided in the south its entire life, receiving consistent maintenance over its lifetime as shown by nearly 20 records on the CARFAX report. Equipment includes push-button start, aluminum pedals, and front and rear stabilizer bars. Finished in Suzuka Blue Metallic with a black retractable top over a blue leather interior, this AP1 S2000 is now offered with a brochure, a clean CARFAX report, and a clear Illinois title in the seller’s name.
Launching for model year 2000, the first iteration of the S2000 roadster rode on a chassis called the AP1, leveraging a front mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout. This example is finished in Suzuka Blue Metallic (B-513M), contrasted by a black vinyl power-retractable top with a glass rear window which was a new feature for the 2002 model year. Exterior trim includes chrome S2000 badging applied to the front fenders next to the side markers, chrome inner taillight rings, a trunk-mounted LED third brake lamp, and dual polished exhaust outlets.
Machined aluminum 16” five-spoke wheels are wrapped in Cooper tires with good tread life remaining. Suspension underpinnings are derived from double-wishbone architecture with electronically-assisted steering, leveraging a 50/50 weight distribution and staying compliant through the use of front and rear stabilizer bars. Stopping power comes from power-assisted disc brakes all the way around.
The interior is themed in all-blue, offering power-operated blue leather bucket seating for two, with matching materials for the center console, door panels, dash, and carpeting with roll hoops behind each seat. Design changes for 2002 included an upgraded AM/FM/CD radio with separate tweeters, a leather-wrapped shift knob, and a leatherette center console cover. Amenities include push-button start, aluminum pedals, air conditioning, cruise control, power convenience options, two-speed intermittent windshield wipers, and a rear window defroster. The seller has provided detailed images of the factory-applied VIN tags present in the door, hood, and trunk jambs.
A digital instrument cluster provides a speedometer, tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The digital odometer reads 47,920 miles which is an actual reading per the seller.
The F20C 2.0-liter dual-overhead camshaft inline-four features Honda’s variable-valve timing (VTEC) and has been well-maintained throughout its lifetime, as shown by the service history on the CARFAX report. This powerplant has a red-finished valve cover and carried a factory rating of 240 horsepower and 153 lb-ft of torque when new. Noteworthy items include an oil change in October 2020 as well as service to the air filter, charging system, and brake fluid within the last few years. Power is directed to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission with a Torsen limited-slip differential.
Photos showing the underside are available in the gallery.
There are no accidents or damage reported to CARFAX. The vehicle passed a North Carolina emissions inspection in October 2020. The sale includes a promotional brochure.
