This 1982 Jeep CJ-7 is a custom 4WD example with a lifted suspension, quick-disconnect sway bars, locker hubs, and 35” mud-terrain tires. This CJ comes from long-term ownership in the seller’s family and spent time in Central America before being relocated to the United States. The drivetrain consists of a 4.2-liter inline-six bolted to a 5-speed manual transmission with a 2-speed Dana 300 transfer case, and recent work included replacement of the battery, starter, clutch, and exhaust system. Finished in gray with blue accents over a matching cloth interior, this CJ-7 is now offered with a CARFAX report, build documentation, a Quadratec car cover, and a clear Colorado title in the seller’s name.
The CJ-7 launched in 1976 with a slightly longer wheelbase and revised chassis architecture compared to prior CJ iterations. This example from 1982 is painted gray with blue accents, featuring black Bushwhacker fender flares, black-finished diamond plate accents for the side sills and rear quarters, and stainless-steel hardware for the hinges, mirrors, and other exterior trim. Front and rear bumpers are Smittybilt items and Warn 9500 winch comes with a kit bag containing pulley blocks, gloves, and the controller. The rear houses a swing-away mount with a full-size 35” spare tire, a Hi-Lift jack, and jerry can holder. The sale includes a new Bestop Supertop in black with sets of clear and tinted plastic windows. Rearward lighting has been upgraded with modern LED taillights. The seller notes that the windshield has some cracking.
Black-finished 15” wheels are wrapped in 35” Goodyear Wrangler Mud Terrain tires, and Warn locking hubs are fitted. The lifted suspension features quick-disconnect JK sway bars and has been refurbished using replacement springs, shackles, and Rancho RS5000 shock absorbers.
The interior is fitted with Mastercraft bucket seats up front and a bench seat in the rear, with Corbeau harnesses providing restraint up front. The floor is finished with a Rhino lining and the tubular roll cage is painted blue. Amenities include a Grant steering wheel, diamond-plate dash treatment, and an AM/FM/CD audio system with custom speaker enclosures in the footwell and on the roll cage.
Instrumentation is provided by a series of original and functional rounded gauges within the aluminum diamond-plate surround, including an 85-mph speedometer, a tachometer, an analog clock, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads approximately 119k miles, and the seller reports this mileage is original to the vehicle.
The 4.2-liter inline-six is reported to be original and has received a recent oil change, and the clutch, battery, starter, and exhaust have been replaced. Power is transferred to all four wheels via a new 5-speed manual transmission and a 2-speed Dana 300 transfer case. The seller reports that the new transmission was installed 500 miles ago.
Additional underside photos are available in the gallery.
The CARFAX report documents front-end damage to an accident with another vehicle in 1995 and has been registered in Colorado since 1998. The sale includes build documentation, a triple-layer Quadratec cover, the Bestop removable top, and spare top frame parts.

New undercarriage photos. Not great but best from a favor of the wife while I'm away.little surface corrosion on the fuel tank shield but otherwise rust free and reasonably clean. Hope someone wins and is rewarded with this excellent ch tomorrow! Thanks to all!!
@RobertU – Is it an all steel tub? Any fiberglass? Any rust behind the diamond plate or any major rust spots to be aware of? Thanks ...
I noticed rust once behind the side diamond plate drivers side. Hade it cut and welded with good steel. No fiberglass. This cj is rust free! Photos of the repair if interested.

@TSM – I don’t see any photos of the frame, underside, etc. Could you include those? Thanks., ...
Unfortunately I'm out of town. I'll see if the wife can take a few pics for me. There is no significant rust or any damage underneath. Just dirty ol bottom but all is intact and all functional. I noticed some seepage of oil on the powersteering box, but it doesn't seem to leak any real amount or make any noises.
I don’t see any photos of the frame, underside, etc. Could you include those? Thanks.,
