OVERVIEW
This 1966 Pontiac Ventura was purchased from Cliff West Motors in Fort Payne AL and is powered by a 400ci V8 engine equipped with a Tri-Power setup and a four-speed manual transmission. Features include eight-lug Pontiac wheels, a factory tachometer, an AM/FM radio, power steering and brakes, and manual windows. Refinished in Barrier Blue with a white vinyl top over a blue vinyl interior, this Pontiac is available now and comes from the selling dealer with Pontiac Historic Services (PHS) documentation, copies of the window sticker and order sheet, removed rear fender skirts, the removed original three-speed transmission and steering column, a date coded correct 421 block, additional documentation, and a clear New Jersey title.
EXTERIOR - FEATURES
This Ventura comes from the 1966 model year when the Ventura became a separate model. According to the selling dealer, this is reportedly one of approximately 540 Venturas produced with the 421ci V8 and a manual transmission. Originally finished in Barrier Blue (Code P) with a Cameo Ivory (Code C) top, the body was repainted under previous ownership eight years ago in Barrier Blue and fitted with a white vinyl roof. Features include chrome bumpers, a four-quadrant grille, a fender-mounted antenna, full-length bodyside trim, Ventura emblems, and a trunk lid-mounted "Hurst Equipped" badge.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of factory Pontiac eight-lug wheels is wrapped in BFGoodrich Silvertown whitewall bias-ply tires.
INTERIOR - FEATURES
The front bench seat, matching rear seat, trim, and door panels are upholstered in blue vinyl. Features include blue carpeting, manual windows, a manual remote driver's mirror, power steering and brakes, simulated woodgrain accents, an AM/FM stereo, and a two-spoke Pontiac steering wheel with some imperfections and yellowing clear rim. This Ventura was originally built with a column-shifted three-speed manual transmission; it has been upgraded to a floor-mounted four-speed manual transmission with a Hurst shifter. The original three-speed gearbox, manual-shift steering column, and steering wheel will be included in the sale.
INTERIOR - GAUGES
A 120-mph speedometer, a factory 8K-rpm tachometer, a clock, and gauges for the voltage and fuel level are located ahead of the driver. A pair of aftermarket Sunpro gauges, which includes readouts for the coolant temperature and oil pressure, is located under the dashboard. The analog odometer reads 112K miles, which the selling dealer states is accurate.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Power is now provided by a 400ci V8 connected to Tri-Power carburetors and manifolds, and an upgraded four-speed manual gearbox. Underhood features include chrome valve covers, chrome Tri-Power air cleaners, and a windshield washer. The original three-speed transmission, steering column with shifter assembly and a 1966 date-coded 421 block are included with the sale.
UNDERCARRIAGE
This Ventura was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. Dual exhaust outlets exit at the rear. Braking is provided by power drums. Additional photos of the undercarriage can be seen in the carousel to the right.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The selling dealer will include Pontiac Historic Services (PHS) documentation; copies of the window sticker and order sheet; the removed rear fender skirts, original transmission, steering column, and steering wheel; and additional documentation with the sale.
