This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS 396 is finished in Hugger Orange with black stripes over a black and houndstooth interior. Power is provided by the matching-numbers L34 396ci V8 engine rated at 350 horsepower and paired with a Muncie M20 4-speed manual transmission. The car was built in the Van Nuys, California plant and spent its entire life in California until being relocated to Arizona and has received a full restoration under current ownership. Features include a deluxe interior, power brakes, and a Vintage Air A/C system. Located in Oro Valley, Arizona, this Camaro SS 396 is now offered on a clean Arizona title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in its factory shade of Hugger Orange with black hockey stick-style stripes on both sides, along with the factory-equipment 396 emblems and other badging. Exterior features include hood louvers, a black vinyl roof, and a flush-mounted lip spoiler on the trunk. The tail panel is finished in matte black with an "SS" emblem in the center, while the rear bumper features vertical bumperettes. All painted surfaces have undergone paint correction with a protective ceramic coating applied.
Factory 14” steel Rallye wheels with chrome trim rings and center caps are mounted to BF Goodrich Radial T/A raised-white-letter tires on all four corners. The car is equipped with power steering and power brakes. The braking system features power-assisted discs in the front with new calipers, pads & rotors, and drums in the rear, while the suspension features new shocks.
The Deluxe interior is fitted with black bucket seats with houndstooth inserts with a matching rear bench seat. A center console is mounted between the front seats and houses the polished shifter for the manual transmission and auxiliary gauges, all trimmed with faux wood grain. Additional wood grain trim is found on the dash, door panels, and steering wheel as part of the Deluxe interior package. Additional options include a tilt steering wheel as well as an AM/FM radio. A Vintage Air A/C system has been added by the seller and operates with no issue. The trunk is fitted with a factory-style vinyl mat and a spare tire with a matching cover.
Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer, along with additional gauges located in the center console and providing readouts for fuel level, voltage, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. Since completion of the restoration the car has been driven 1500 miles.
The matching-numbers L34 396ci V8 was factory rated and 350 horsepower and equipped with chrome valve covers and air cleaner. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a rebuilt Muncie M20 4-speed manual and a 12-bolt rear end. The engine bay has been fully restored with the firewall, and inner fenders finished in matte black while the engine block, heads, and intake manifold are finished in the correct Chevrolet engine orange. Since acquiring the car, the seller has spent a total of $15k in mechanical restoration and maintenance, documented with all receipts and invoices.
The underside has been fully restored, with all components refinished or replated. Additional photos showing the underside are available in the gallery.
The sale includes an owner’s manual, car show awards, as well as service records since the seller took ownership of the vehicle in May 2019.
