Vehicle Story

This 1999 Acura Integra GS-R is finished in blue over a black leather interior and is powered by a 1.8-liter VTEC four-cylinder paired with a five-speed manual transaxle.  The car originated in Santa Monica, California where it resided until being relocated to Arizona in late 2019.  Equipment includes optional OEM aero kit, power moonroof, and front and rear stabilizer bars.  This Integra is now offered with a CARFAX report, window sticker, extra keys, touch-up paint, service records, the original California license plates, and a sales brochure, on a clean Arizona title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in Super Sonic Blue Pearl (B90P) and has been had some prior body and paint work on some panels, with paint mismatch showing in certain lighting.  The left rear quarter panel and rear hatch were missing VIN stickers and replicas have been fitted in those areas.  The remaining 6 VIN stickers are present from the factory.  The car is equipped with the optional underbody lip kit on the front and sides, and factory mud guards in the rear.  It also has optional fog lamps and the GS-R standard rear wing spoiler with integrated LED brake lamp.  The front bumper cover shows some orange peeling and chips.

Factory 15” diamond-cut “blade” wheels are mounted to near-new Atlas G-Force 195/55 tires on all four corners.  Some of the wheels have light curb rash.  The car has four-wheel disc brakes and four-wheel double-wishbone suspension.

The interior is fitted with black carpeting and black leather seats, and the dash has a factory AM/FM/CD head unit with six speakers and a power antenna.  The seller indicates that the CD player function does not operate.  The leather seats are in good condition.  The ignition was also changed under prior ownership, and the car uses separate keys for the doors and for the ignition.  There is a donut spare and OEM jack kit in the rear hatch, and the hatch struts were recently replaced.  The steering wheel is leather-wrapped.

Instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer and a 10k-rpm tachometer from an Integra Type-R gauge cluster.  The six-digit odometer reads 137k miles, but due to the cluster change, true mileage is unknown.  The seller indicates that based upon CARFAX mileage history the miles are believed to be about 147k currently.

The inline-four 1.8-liter B18 16-valve VTEC engine is original to the vehicle and unmodified.  It was factory rated at 170 horsepower when new.  Maintenance within the last year has been comprehensive, including replacement of the timing belt and water pump with factory parts, a valve adjustment, new driver side window switch and motor, new spark plug wires, and a change of fluids and filters.  The seller indicates that the car does burn and leak some oil, and there is a vibration around 3,000 rpm.  Power is sent to the front wheels via a five-speed manual transaxle with limited-slip differential (LSD) which is believed to be a replacement unit from an Integra Type-R.

Additional photos showing the underside are available in the gallery.

The original window sticker lists an MSRP of $22,555 including destination and handling. The CARFAX report shows California ownership since new, with consistent registration renewals and emissions checks. The car failed California emissions but subsequently passed in Arizona in November 2020. The sale includes an original window sticker, extra keys, touch-up paint, service records, the original California license plates, and a sales brochure.

As we head into the last day on this auction, I'll do my best to stay connected and responsive if anyone has questions. I have greatly enjoyed owning this Integra. Part of the fun of being an Acura enthusiast is changing things up from time to time. I am preparing to make room for a new TLX Type S next spring, and space is limited. I also only had the chance to drive this Integra a little over 1k miles in the year I owned it. Hope it goes to someone who will enjoy and preserve it. Thanks!

I guess the comment box limits character count. Anyway, since the car is OBDII, the AZ emissions station just hooked it up to a code reader I believe to verify compliance. The car has no check engine lights. In AZ, any car on a 'historic / collector' policy is emissions exempt, so I was able to get 5-year tags for it without the emissions test. I just had it checked for peace of mind (paperwork included). The 14-min video has undercarriage and exhaust footage if that helps. Thanks!

@shawnkvue23 – I been wanting one of these ever since a buddy had one back in the days. Would love to bring this car back to California. Remember why the car didn't pass smog in California? ...

Agreed, this model has a lot of nostalgia for many people. Hard to believe the design has aged so well 2 decades later. As for the emissions, here is everything I know. I didn't get paperwork regarding the CA smog checks, so I don't know upon what basis it failed. However, in talking with Corner 3 Garage in Orange County who serviced the car for a number of years, they said that the car had exhaust related modifications that were later put back to stock. More in the next comment above.

Just for kicks, here's my favorite Integra commercial of all time. And it doesn't even show the car. Lol. Best 15 seconds ever. You might have to copy/paste. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oGLaUsdrPKU

@rcreyes – I absolutely love the Supersonic GSR. I've owned two in the past, a '98 and '99 respectively. I would happily take this and cherish it. Best of luck to everyone. Happy bidding! ...

Thank you for the support and for the bid. This is my first 3rd gen GS-R and I got it as a modern version of my Aztec Green 1992. The cars have similar engineering dynamics and they are both so fun to drive. I don't blame you for having a desire to get back into another one. Sounds like you would give it a great home. That's all I'm looking for!

@Usdmitr – Is the original trans and garage cluster included with car? ...

Thanks for the interest. No, I don't have the original cluster or the original trans. One of my YouTube subscribers contacted me today with knowledge about this car's original owner. I learned that the suspension setup includes: ITR springs, ITR front shocks, Koni adjustable yellow rear shocks. I hope that helps. It's nice to get some information about history because the car didn't come with much when I got it. Let me know if you have any other questions and I'll do my best to answer.

@Esliv1 – In a time where 90's Honda/Acura's are gaining notoriety how cool is this GS-R. basically unmolested car (especially under the hood) no rust issues at all and unique color makes this thing a gem. DC2 Type-R's and EM1 Civics gather big money as of recent and realistically this is a car performance wise right there with them. Knowing this car is in the hands of an absolute Acura enthusiast by definition, what a bonus. I love seeing that there are examples of these cars still in existence today ...

I appreciate that! It is definitely a survivor - a perfectionist would want to address some of the remaining cosmetics but I have other projects and future cars on my radar, plus I enjoyed this one greatly for a year / 7 YouTube episodes / one car show. I entered it in the Petersen Car Week virtual event a couple of months ago and that was a lot of fun. Hoping the new buyer can continue to preserve it.
