Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1965 Chevrolet Corvette underwent a frame-off restoration that reportedly cost more than $40,000 and included powder-coating the frame, repainting the body, and installing a new top and interior. It is powered by a rebuilt L79 327cid V8 backed by a four-speed manual transmission. Features include power steering, an AM/FM radio, hide-away headlights, bucket seats, and a center console. Finished in Milano Maroon and equipped with a black soft top over a black vinyl interior, this Corvette comes with restoration receipts and photos, a hardtop, and a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

During the exterior portion of the restoration in 2022, the body was mounted and refinished in the original color of Milano Maroon (code MM) by Bee Zee Collision and Service Center in Lincolnwood, Illinois at a reported cost in excess of $25,000. Features include chrome bumpers, newer chrome trim, hide-away headlights, rocker trim, a newer black soft top installed within the last three years, body-color top boot, driver-side mirror, rear antenna, and flip-up gas cap. Slight paint chips on the driver-side headlight are present, however the seller states these will be fixed before this Corvette is sold. Detailed photos of the body restoration can be seen in the carousel to the right.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of 15-inch Corvette Rally wheels is wrapped in new 215/70R15 Firestone redline radial tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The interior was redone by Just Corvettes, LLC of Northfield, Illinois under current ownership. It comes furnished with black vinyl bucket seats, and includes new carpeting and door panels. Features include manual windows, power steering, a center console-mounted manual transmission shifter, and black trim. The seller states that the hardtop headliner needs to be replaced, as well as that the  AM/FM radio and clock do not work.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

A 160-mph speedometer, 7,000-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and battery are located ahead of the driver. The odometer reads 10 miles, but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by an L79 327cid V8 and backed by a four-speed manual transmission. The engine produced 350 horsepower when new. In 2011, it was rebuilt by Classic Engine Company of Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Engine bay features include finned aluminum valve covers, an aluminum intake manifold, and a chrome air cleaner.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This Corvette was factory-equipped with a four-wheel independent suspension and a rear drive axle. Braking is provided by four-wheel manual discs. A dual exhaust system exits at the rear. The seller states the previous owner spent $15,000 on powder-coating the frame in 2011 and rebuilding the engine.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

The seller will include restoration receipts, restoration photos, and a hardtop with an unfinished headliner as part of the sale.

@Shootnride – Reading through the receipts in the photo gallery, it appears that this engine has a re-stamped, replacement engine block. Is that correct ? ...

No, we do not believe that to be accurate. Rebuild of original engine.
