Vehicle Story

This 1993 Acura Legend L coupe is finished in Granada Black over a tan leather interior and is powered by a 3.2-liter V6 paired with a 4-speed automatic transaxle. The car was originally sold new at Cerritos Acura in Southern California, and it remained with its original owner in the Los Angeles area until being relocated to Arizona in 2020. Equipment includes four-wheel double-wishbone suspension, upgraded 16” wheels, and a power sliding moonroof. Located in Phoenix, Arizona, this Legend is now offered at no reserve with a CARFAX report on a clean Arizona title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in Granada Black Pearl (NH-503P) and was fully repainted under prior ownership in 2009. The front and rear bumpers were later refinished as well. It has a body-colored grille and black plastic lower rocker panels, and the factory-correct dual-outlet exhaust at the rear. It also has a power sliding moonroof and active door strikers, which pull in the driver and passenger doors with electronic actuators when nearly closed. An aftermarket rubber rear lip spoiler has been added to the trunk.

Factory five-spoke 16” machined alloy wheels from a Legend LS have been added, and they are mounted to new Bridgestone 215/55 tires with 2020 date codes on all four corners. The car is equipped with a 4-wheel double-wishbone suspension, front and rear stabilizer bars, 4-wheel power-assisted disc brakes, and speed-sensitive power steering.

The interior is fitted with tan carpeting and Ivory (Type F) leather bucket seats. The door panels and console are trimmed in faux woodgrain. The driver seat is power-operated. The windows have been professionally tinted with 20% Suntek film, and all four side windows are power-operated. Other power equipment includes cruise control and power locks. The audio system is a Bose 8-speaker AM/FM cassette head unit, and the car has an accessory 6-disc CD changer in the trunk. The car also has a full-size 15” spare tire in the trunk, along with associated jack equipment.

Instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer and 8k-rpm tachometer, along with accompanying gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The 6-digit odometer reads 115k miles, which are original to the vehicle.

The 3.2-liter “Type II” V6 is original to the vehicle and was factory-rated at 230 horsepower. The car comes with over $23k in service receipts dating back to new, primarily performed at an independent import specialty facility in Redondo Beach. Recent maintenance includes the replacement of the timing belt, water pump, and drive belts in January 2021. The seller indicates that the car does leak some oil consistent with age and mileage. The anti-lock brake pump has been replaced. Power is sent to the front wheels via a 4-speed automatic transaxle and a console-mounted shift lever.

Additional photos showing the underside are available in the gallery.

The CARFAX report shows the car’s original sale in November 1993, followed by consistent registration renewals and emissions inspections in California. The radiator was replaced in 2008, and the car received some suspension work at that time. The sale includes a reproduction window sticker, purchase documentation from the original sale, the California license plates, owner’s manuals, a bottle of touch-up paint, copies of magazine articles, service records, and multiple brochures.

In terms of logistics, I wanted to let any interested parties know that I'm happy to pick up the winning bidder at PHX Sky Harbor airport if you decide to fly in and drive home. Otherwise, I have worked with an automotive transport broker named Montway and they have instant online shipping quotes available on their website. They usually pick up with a few business days after the order is placed. Thanks again to all for the interest!

@Halo – Great looking car! The notes say there's some oil leakage consistent with age and mileage. Has the source of the leak been identified? If yes, is this a common issue with these Legends? ...

Thank you! Yes, and yes. It was discussed earlier in the comments, but the source is a rear main seal and it's common (at least, it's something I've dealt with on almost all of the 10 Legends I've owned). The same issue is present with my 1994 coupe. I was quoted $800 to fix it, by Hon-Man Auto Care, an independent Honda/Acura specialty facility in Tempe, Arizona when they performed the 90k and EGR maintenance on the car last month. Meanwhile it doesn't present any drivability concerns. Any bidders can take that information into consideration when placing bids, and I'm happy to discuss over the phone or email the full Excel maintenance spreadsheet.

@Frederal – Sorry I saw your response after I posted my last comment. VERY GOOD! ...

You bet, and thanks for the interest! Yes, I am hopeful this Granada Black coupe continues to be preserved. There is a strong network of Acura Legend owners and enthusiasts today, despite the fact that this model was discontinued after model year 1995. In fact our 16th annual "National Acura Legend Meet" (NALM) will be held this coming October here in Phoenix, and I'm co-hosting. Maybe whoever buys this car could bring it to the meet. Have a great weekend.

Thanks for the link, watched your video which was very well done and quite forthright. Although you mentioned the original owner wanted you to find it a good home, no mention was made of why you chose to sell it instead of the 500k mile example of the same car you have. With all the money you spent in updating and maintaining the car, hasn't it already found "a good home"?

Thank you! I worked really hard on prep for this auction - even had the photo location picked out weeks in advance. I really wanted to do this car justice. To answer your question, I've been into these cars since I was 16 when my mom bought a 1993 Legend L sedan back in the late 1990s and I've owned many. I have 2 other Legends at the current time. One is a 1994 sedan and the other is the 576k-mile coupe, which I've had for 18 years this month. I have way too much history with that car to ever let it go. Here's a video I made last year summarizing my ownership experience, which now has over 175k views on YouTube. These cars are awesome.
