Vehicle Story

This 1955 Chevrolet 210 is a two-door sedan which is said to have been repainted and modified by previous ownership, with highlights that include a custom two-tone black and white vinyl interior with lap belts, an electronic ignition, and a dual exhaust among more detailed below. Power comes from a 265ci small-block Chevrolet V8 fueled by a Holley two-barrel carburetor which is backed by a 3-speed column-shift manual transmission, the brakes and steering are also manual, and this Tri-Five Chevrolet is offered on a clear title name.

The two-tone white and red exterior finish is punctuated by chrome bumpers and trim, and is described as an older respray which shows wear in the form of chips and scratches, in addition to other evidence of age. Detailed photos of the quality and condition of the paint can be viewed in the gallery. Chrome and other brightwork show reflective finishes and blue dot tail lamps are fitted at the rear. The seller describes the trunk floor pan as having been replaced. Dual downturned chrome exhaust outlets empty beneath the rear bumper.

Wheels are a matching set of 15" steel items which have been painted to match the body and fitted with standard chrome hubcaps, along with a set of 205-section Uniroyal Tiger Paw tires. Handling is managed by manual steering and brakes with standard 11" drums all around.

The interior is trimmed in custom black and white quilted vinyl upholstery throughout which extends to the door panels and dash, while the instrument panel is color-matched in white. The footwells are lined with black carpet and white floor mats, windows are operated by crank, and an older vintage-style AM/FM cassette deck is fitted.

A factory-style two-spoke steering fronts the 110-mph speedometer which contains integrated dials for fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer displays approximately 74,000 miles. The ignition cylinder and other switchgear surround the steering column and gauge cluster.

1955 marked the debut of the Chevrolet small-block V8 and this 210 runs a 265 which wears the corporate period color scheme of orange and blue. Fueling is handled by a two-barrel carburetor and gross output when new was 162 horsepower at 4,400 rpm with 257 pound-feet of torque at 2,200. A 3-speed column-shift manual sends power to the rear end and the seller notes the presence of an electronic ignition.

Additional photos of the underside are available for viewing in the gallery.

@Gunner54 – Is the bottom of the dashboard scratched up in front of the passenger seat? It is down low. ...

Yes definitely showing it’s age with the scratches on the dash. Photos 73 and 75 show it best

@MRD1950 – WHAT IS THE WHITE MATERIAL LOCATED IN THE RIGHT FRONT FENDER WELL AND WHY IS IT THERE? THE GAS TANK APPEARS TO HAVE A "RESIDUE" ON THE BOTTOM, THIS COULD INDICATE A FUEL TANK LEAK OR A LEAKING REAR END. CAN YOU ADDREESS THIS? ...

A previous owner sprayed undercoating on the whole underside and wheel wells, I guess they just decided to go with white on the front as a matter of personal taste. That residue is likely the undercoating, but I’ll try to take a look when I get back in town and confirm it

@Gunner54 – Were any floor panels replaced? Any fiberglass? Any fluid leaks? ...

I think the trunk pan was replaced, but haven’t seen any signs on other panels. The entire underside was sprayed with some type of undercoating so it’s tough to tell. No fiberglass I’m aware of. I noticed a small leak, about 2 drops of what might have been fuel the other day when I pulled the car out but haven’t seen anything else since. There was some weeping on the valve covers which you can see in the pics, but I haven’t noticed any further leaking from there
