Vehicle Story
This 1953 Chevrolet 3600 Pickup is finished in maroon over a two-tone gray and red interior and is powered by a 235ci inline-6 cylinder engine paired with a 3-speed manual transmission. The vehicle was restored in Ohio in 2016 by the previous owner before it was acquired by the current owner and relocated to Massachusetts. Equipment includes an upgraded electrical system, new interior, wood bed, polished wheels, and lap belts. Located in Kingston, Massachusetts, the 3600 is now offered by the selling dealer on a clean Massachusetts title.
The truck was refinished in maroon during the 2016 restoration. The body features chrome accents on the grille, window surrounds, dual side-view mirrors, and bumpers as well as the fuel filler cap. Factory-equipped running boards are finished in black and run the length of both driver and passenger side between the fenders. The wood bed has been refinished, while the locking strips have been finished to match the body and stainless-steel hardware used throughout. The glass is in good condition with no cracking or chips.
Aftermarket 16" chrome artillery style wheels are fitted to raised-white-letter BF Goodrich Radial Long Trail T/A 245/75 tires on all four corners. The truck retains the factory braking system with manual drum brakes all the way around.
The interior was fully redone during the 2016 restoration and features a gray cloth bench seat with maroon inserts. Custom door panels were made to match with chrome door handles and manual window cranks. Gray carpeting was installed and the dash was finished in metallic gray to match. The vehicle is equipped with an optional heater and lap belts have been added for safety. The truck retains the factory steering wheel finished in black, along with a column-mounted shifter for the 3-speed manual transmission.
Instrumentation includes a 90-mph speedometer, along with smaller gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, oil pressure, and voltage. The five-digit odometer reads 71k miles, 2k of which have been added by the seller over two years of ownership. True miles are unknown.
The Thriftmaster 235ci 6 cylinder engine is not original to the truck but and was sourced from a 1957 model. The block has been painted in the factory-correct shade of blue with cast iron intake and exhaust manifolds. It's equipped with a single 2 barrel carburetor with a chrome air cleaner and valve cover. An aluminum radiator was added for improved cooling and the factory generator has been upgraded with an alternator. A 3-speed manual transmission transfers power to the rear wheels.
