Vehicle Story

This 1940 Ford Deluxe Business Coupe has been refurbished and is powered by a 293ci Flathead V8 paired with a 3-speed manual transmission. The engine has been upgraded through a bored and stroked block, a Thickstun intake manifold, Isky cam, dual Stromberg 97 carburetors, an electric fan, Pertronix electronic ignition system, Edelbrock vented heads, and Red Head headers. The car has been converted to a 12-volt electrical system with all new wiring,  while the transmission features a new clutch, seals, and bearings. The Coupe is finished in black with a black and red-accented interior and is offered with a clear California title in the seller's name.

The all-steel body is finished in black and features vent windows and chrome headlight and taillight bezels, bumpers, side trim, window frames, hub caps, and grille. The seller reports that the body is straight and that some of the windows are tinted.

15" red steel wheels wearing Ford hubcaps and beauty rings are fitted with staggered-width Coker whitewall tires. Braking is managed by 4-wheel drums.

The interior is trimmed in black with red piping and accents and features side-facing rear seats, manual windows, an AM radio, and an analog clock over the glove box. The manual transmission is operated by a column-mounted shifter and a full-size spare is housed in the trunk.

A two-spoke steering wheel sits out front of the stock gauges. Mileage is reported to be approximately 72,000, though true mileage is unknown.

The original engine has been replaced by a 293ci Flathead V8, which has been upgraded and modified. Specifically, the seller reports that the ports have been polished and it has a 3 5/16" bore and a 4 1/4" stroke. New components include a Thickstun intake manifold, dual Stromberg 97 carburetors, Edelbrock aluminum vented heads, Pertronix electronic ignition, an electric fan, a 12-volt electrical system with new wiring, a finned water pump, and hoses. In addition, the radiator has been flushed and tested. Power is directed to the rear by way of a manual transmission with a new clutch, synchros, bearings, and seals connected to a rear end with 3.78:1 gearing.

The ride is supported by a 4" dropped axle in the front and a wishbone setup in the rear.

I noticed the dual Stromberg carburetors 97 , looks awesome, appears to only have fuel going into the rear carb , ? Is there only one carb functioning at this time ? Thanks

I noticed that one of the Carbs has no Fuel Line attached, yet the receiving port for the carb isn't capped? Thanks
