This 1993 Mercedes-Benz 190E Sportline is finished in black over black leather interior and is powered by a 2.6-liter inline-six paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. Offered in the final years of production for the W201 chassis, the Sportline package offered buyers the chance for a sportier version of the 190E without having to step up to the 16-valve Cosworth model. This car was initially sold in Pennsylvania and spent time in New Jersey and Florida before the current owner acquired it and brought it to Oregon. Equipment unique to the Sportline includes a performance suspension, quick-ratio steering box, upgraded seats with 2-tone upholstery, alloy wheels. This W201 is now offered with a Carfax report and a clean Oregon title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished Black gray lower body cladding with matte black door handles and bumper impact strips. An egg-crate style grille with chrome surround was standard, along with the polished trim around the front and rear glass. The sealed beam headlights feature the optional headlight washer system with wipers. Only 700 vehicles produced with the Sportline package were produced for the 1993 model year, this one is number 494. The seller indicates that there is a small spot of rust located just below the driver's side headlight where the wiper is mounted.
The Sportline package included factory 15” sport alloy wheels fitted with 205-55-15 tires, which are currently Kumho Ecsta 4x's all around. Additionally, numerous Cosworth suspension components were added which lowered the ride height by 21 mm compared to the standard 190E. Equipment includes stiffer springs and shocks, upgraded sway bars, and stronger ball joints.
All Sportline models came equipped with black leather interior with red inserts and piping. The front sport seats are power-adjustable with controls mounted on the doors, the driver's seat also has 2 programable memory settings. The dash, door panels and console feature polished wood grain trim. Controls for the power windows and remotely operated mirrors are housed in the center console, just above the leather-wrapped shifter for the automatic transmission. The original radio has been replaced with an aftermarket unit from Alpine equipped with Bluetooth phone and audio capability.
Instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,200-rpm redline. Additional analog gauges for temperature, fuel, and oil pressure are located on the left-hand side of the cluster. There is a digital odometer reading 66,989 miles, of which about 5,000 have been added by the seller over three years of ownership.
All Sportline cars were equipped with the M103 2.6-liter inline-six and were factory rated at 158 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque. This example is equipped with a 4-speed automatic transmission, though a 5-speed manual was available. Extensive maintenance was performed at 63,000 miles by a Mercedes-Benz specialist and included replacement of the fuel filter, thermostat, brake pads, valve cover gasket, rear brake pads, transmission filter, and serpentine belts, among other items. The most recent service performed includes an oil service and replacement of the engine air filter and battery. The seller states that the power antenna does not work.

(CTD) The LE models had no mechanical performance upgrades from the standard models. However the 2.6 liter 6 cylinder (M103) engine in this model , even stock, had plenty of pep for its era, with performance numbers not far from the highly regarded 1986 190E 2.3-16V models. No LE models were offered with a manual as original equipment. The LE models also were the first badge-delete Mercedes models offered in the USA. Overall, they are interesting, if little-known, models. Enjoy!
(CTD) The 2.6 litre LE models were only offered in black, with a black interior, with special red seat piping and accents. The seats were sourced from Recaro and have deep sports bolsters, even in the rear, like the older 190E-2.3-16v model had. The dash and console had special carbon-fiber look inserts. The rear seats had headrests. The 2.6 litre model had no wood, what is seen in this example is an aftermarket wood kit, available from Performance Products and others.
What we have here is a very interesting 1993 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.6 litre LE (Limited Edition) model. This was one of two models of the 190E (the other being a special content 2.3 litre model) released in March 1993 as their first ever, Limited Edition models. 700 of each model were released. You can see in the photo of the paperwork for this car, the official Limited Edition brochure. More info in next comment.
