This 1955 Oldsmobile Super 88 is presented as a top-trim convertible for its model year, powered by a recently-serviced 324ci Rocket V8 paired with a 4-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. This 88 received a restoration that applied a two-tone paint job, a matching vinyl interior, and wide whitewall tires. Additional features include disc brakes, a dual exhaust system, and a modern audio system from Custom Autosound. Finished in two-tone red and white with a white soft top over a matching vinyl interior, this second-generation Super 88 is now offered with a convertible boot and a clear Kansas title in the seller’s name.
Beginning in 1954, all Oldsmobiles were restyled and received a longer body, with the Super 88 at the top of the model lineup. The subsequent model year, the 1955 model year again brought cosmetic updates in the form of a new grille, bodyside moldings, and taillights. This example received a restoration and a repaint in two-tone red and white, along with the installation of a new white cloth retractable top. Brightwork is factory-correct and reported to be in good condition, including dual polished exhaust outlets at the rear. A red vinyl snap-on convertible boot is included for top-down configuration.
Color-matched steel wheels with full bright covers are mounted to wide whitewall tires. Power-assisted disc brakes are equipped up front, as well as power steering.
The interior has reupholstered two-tone red and white vinyl seating, with a split-bench and fold-forward seatbacks upfront. Matching materials were used on the door panels, and replacement red carpeting was installed along with floor mats at the time of restoration. The dash has a bright center accent panel that surrounds an analog clock at the passenger side, and additional features include electric windshield wipers, a newer radio from Custom Autosound, and a carpeted trunk with a full-size spare tire and associated jack equipment. The seller indicates that the heater does not work.
Instrumentation consists of a predominant 120-mph round speedometer which is bordered by gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, oil pressure, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 88k miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The replacement 324ci Rocket V8 was last serviced in early 2021. Power is directed to the rear wheels via a 4-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission.

@RacecaR – One more thing - do you think I could drive this all the way home to Washington state? ...
I took it on a 200 mile drive twice and didn't have any trouble. Everything has been rebuilt or replaced, but it is a 66 year old car.
@RacecaR – Is the heater now separated from the rest of the cooling system? Does the power top work? Thank you. ...
Everything on the heater is hooked up, but it's not working from the switch. I know the motor is good. I took it out of my parts car. It's probably just a wiring problem. The top has all new cylinders, hoses and motor.
