This 1950 Chevrolet 4100 dually 4x4 flatbed is a preserved and largely original full-size pickup that received a replacement steel bed, a newer coat of paint, and a rebuilt 307ci V8 backed by a replacement 3-speed 350 automatic transmission. This heavy-duty pickup reportedly originated in Missouri before being relocated later in life to Canada. Finished in green over a brown vinyl interior, this 4100 dually is now offered with a clear Ontario registration in the seller’s name.
The Chevrolet Advance Design pickups launched in 1947 and saw consistent year-over-year changes thereafter while bearing 3100 through 4100 branding based upon cargo capacity. This 1950 4100 dually represents the largest of the available configurations. The body was resprayed in green and the bed deck has been replaced in steel and coated in black. The exterior features a split front windshield, fender-mounted turn signals, and swing-away tow mirrors. Photos show some chipping of the paint in the front bumper.
Black-finished steel 20” wheels are wrapped in newer tires. The drum braking system has been overhauled and the master cylinder, front and rear bearings, and all seals have been replaced. The seller reports that the truck is currently running in two-wheel drive because the transfer case has been removed for rebuild, and notes that it will be supplied to the buyer along with the drive shafts.
The interior is trimmed in brown vinyl upholstery which is believed to be original and reported to be in good condition. The door panels have matching material, and the remainder of the interior is unrestored as shown in photos. The dash face has chrome brightwork over the glove compartment, and there is a Super Deluxe heater mounted in the passenger side footwell.
Instrumentation is framed by a three-spoke steering wheel and includes twin circular clusters with an 80-mph speedometer and gauges for fuel level, voltage, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads approximately 47k miles, which the seller believes is an accurate reading. True chassis mileage is unknown.
The rebuilt 307ci V8 has a chrome-finished air cleaner and recently received a new battery. Power is directed to all four wheels via a 3-speed TH350 automatic transmission operated by a floor-mounted shift lever and a rebuilt transfer.
Photos showing the underside are available in the carousel.
AUTOHUNTER ADMIN UPDATE 8/13/21 8:16 AM: The transfer case has been removed and the truck is currently running in two-wheel drive only. The transfer case and drive shafts will go with the sale.
Power steering?
@Coolblock – Hi, I am interested in placing a bid. Does the owner know if the transfer-case mount is intact and aligns behind the 307 (as the original 6cylinder was a different length from the mounting blocks back to the transfer mounts)? Have all the driveshafts been measured to fit behind the 307? ...
To the question I received the truck in its current state from what I was told the mounts are still in place the only change was a hanger bearing was installed and hence it became 2 wheel drive All the drive shafts are there(3) along with the transfer case Sorry can’t be of more help but due to a health issue is reason I have not been able to work on truck and hence putting it up for sale
