1999 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible 6-Speed

This 1999 Chevrolet Corvette convertible shows 68,139 original miles and receives power from an LS1 5.7-liter V8 bolted to a 6-speed manual transaxle. This C5 came well-equipped from the factory with an active handling system, a head-up display, and a limited-slip differential and has been upgraded with LED lighting and a modern Alpine stereo system. The fifth-generation Corvette launched in the model year 1997 featuring a full redesign on the Y-body platform and using a hydroformed box frame. This example from 1999 has resided long-term in Arizona and is reported to be free of corrosion, wearing a paint finish of Torch Red (70) accented by custom pinstriping and a manual-operated black cloth retractable top. Lighting upgrades with LED and HID bulbs were incorporated into the headlights, fog lights, and taillights, and Magnaflow mufflers were installed with polished quad-exhaust outlets.

Chrome-finished five-spoke wheels measure 17” up front and 18” in the rear, having been recently mounted to Michelin tires with fewer than 200 miles on them. Braking is handled by Power Stop four-wheel discs with slotted and cross-drilled rotors, Power Stop pads, and steering is power-assisted. This C5 came factory-outfitted with an active handling system per the window sticker.

The interior is fitted with black, power-operated leather bucket seats with Corvette stitching, along with matching door panels, dash, center console, and carpeting. Amenities include dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, power windows, power door locks, power mirrors, tilt/telescoping steering wheel, head-up display, and a newer Alpine AM/FM/CD stereo with SiriusXM.

Instrumentation includes a 200-mph speedometer, a 7,500-rpm tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, oil pressure, and voltage. The digital odometer reads 68,139 miles, which the seller states is an original reading.

The 5.7-liter LS1 V8 received an oil change in May 2021 as well as recent spark plugs, wires, and coils. This powertrain was factory rated at 345 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is directed to the rear wheels via a BorgWarner T-56 6-speed manual transaxle with a Hurst shift lever and a limited-slip differential with 3.42:1 gearing.
