This 1968 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport is a two-door hardtop that is powered by a newly-rebuilt, numbers-matching 427ci Turbo-Jet V8 paired with a 3-speed TH400 automatic transmission and 12-bolt positraction rear end. This Impala has resided long-term in central California and retains its original body panels and full coil suspension. A recent refurbishment was carried out which included the installation of Rallye wheels and a refurbished interior. Finished in Light Blue Metallic over a reupholstered black interior, this fourth-generation Impala is now offered with a clear California title in the seller’s name.
The fourth-generation Impala debuted in 1965 riding on the General Motors B-body platform and featuring curved frameless side glass, an angled windshield, and reshaped vent windows. In 1968, a design change was applied that incorporated new triple-horseshoe taillights, and this two-door hardtop is finished in a coat of Light Blue Metallic paint that was applied approximately 40 years ago. The bumpers, trim, window surrounds, and moldings were refurbished at the same time and are reported to be in good condition. A dual exhaust system is equipped at the rear.
Steel 15” Rallye wheels with chrome center caps and polished trim rings are wrapped in whitewall tires. Stopping power comes from disc brakes up front, and the body rides on a full coil suspension.
The interior is fitted with reupholstered bench seating, matching door panels, a padded dash, and original black carpeting. An SS 427 placard is affixed to the passenger side of the dash, and additional amenities include air conditioning, a push-button radio, a tilt-adjustable steering wheel, and a trunk-mounted spare tire.
Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and readouts for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads approximately 75k miles, although true chassis mileage is unknown.
The numbers-matching 427ci Turbo Jet V8 was factory-rated at 385 horsepower when new and underwent a rebuild within the last 500 miles. The ignition system has been upgraded with MSD components, and power is fed to the rear wheels via a 3-speed TH400 automatic transmission and a 12-bolt positraction rear end.
AUTOHUNTER ADMIN UPDATE 8/9/21 11:23 AM: Per the seller, the car was repainted in the original color approximately 40 years. The listing has been edited to correct the error.

Hi you say it had fresh paint in your write up, just wondering what condition the paint is in today and how long ago was the car painted?, I refer to the picture of the right hand rear trunk shot showing the SS427 badge where the paint condition looks either faded or heavily worn, is this the case or a bad picture in bad lighting? There is also a picture of the front right hand fender showing full car and the hood looks like the paint is similarly worn and aged! Also is there many or any signs of rust. Thank you
