1947 Ford Super Deluxe Cabriolet

This 1947 Ford Super Deluxe Cabriolet received a frame-off restoration with an emphasis on originality and has been awarded Dearborn Awards for its resulting condition. Power under the hood comes from a 239ci flathead V8 coupled with a 3-speed manual transmission, and recent drivetrain maintenance has included a fresh battery and an oil change. This convertible has had long-term California residence and offers a rust-free underbody, wood-trimmed interior, and whitewall tires. Finished in maroon over a reupholstered two-tone maroon and white interior, this Super Deluxe is now offered with a clear California title in the seller’s name.

Ford full-size passenger vehicles shared similar architecture from 1941 through 1948 model years, offered as coupes, convertibles, sedans, pickups, and station wagons. This convertible was the subject of a frame-off restoration under prior ownership and is said to retain its original rust-free sheet metal that received a fresh burgundy paint finish. The tan retractable top and boot were replaced in 2019, and the hydraulics for the retractable top were repaired, flushed, and bled. The exterior features dual sideview mirrors, a two-piece windshield, bright moldings, and dual polished exhausts at the rear. The bumpers and other bright trim accents are described as being in good condition throughout.

Color-matched steel wheels with bright Ford-branded hubcaps and trim rings are mounted to wide whitewall tires.

The interior provides two-tone bench seats, upholstered in burgundy vinyl and beige cloth. The cabin is trimmed in blonde wood accents across the face of the dash and the window sills, and additional amenities include an original AM radio, dual ashtrays, a heater, and an analog clock on the passenger side of the dash. The flooring in the trunk has been replaced and the original jack is included in a burlap bag with leather straps.

Instrumentation includes a 100-mph speedometer and accompanying gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 10k miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

The 239ci flathead V8 received a newer battery and a recent oil change. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a 3-speed manual transmission and a column-mounted shift lever.
