This 1942 Ford is a custom pickup that underwent a 2014 restoration, receiving refinished brightwork, chrome Cragar wheels, and a fresh coat of Light Green Metallic paint. Under the hood, a replacement 2,400-mile Chevrolet small-block 350ci V8 is backed by a 4-speed automatic transmission, and the interior has been outfitted with reupholstered bench seating, a Vintage Air A/C system, and an aftermarket steering wheel. Finished with a color-matched dashboard and beige vinyl seating, this pickup is now offered with build documentation and a clear Texas title in the seller’s name.
From 1941 through 1948, Ford pickups shared chassis underpinnings with the passenger cars of the same era. This example from 1942 was repainted in 2014 in a custom Light Green Metallic, accented by brightwork for the bumpers, headlight rings, side view mirrors, and hardware. The body is reported to be in good condition throughout, with exception of a rust bubble at the bottom of one of the doors. The wooden planks in the bed were replaced along with associated hardware, and the exterior features a two-piece windshield, a Ford-embossed tailgate, and a dual exhaust system.
Chrome-finished 15” five-spoke Cragar wheels were installed at the time of restoration. Chassis architecture comes from a Chevrolet S-10 pickup frame.
The interior features a reupholstered beige vinyl bench seat with matching materials for the door panels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and replacement carpeting with floor mats. A Vintage Air A/C system has been added, with center-dash mounted controls.
Replacement aftermarket AutoMeter gauges provide a 120-mph speedometer as well as accompanying gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The six-digit mechanical odometer reads 2,400 miles, reflective of the miles accrued on the replacement motor. True mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The replacement Chevrolet small-block 350ci V8 is equipped with a chrome-finished air cleaner and other dress-up items. The motor is said to have a small oil leak per the seller. Power is directed to the rear wheels via a 4-speed automatic transmission and a column-mounted shift lever.
