This 1947 Ford Super Deluxe two-door sedan has driven fewer than 1,000 miles since undergoing a mechanical restoration and is powered by an Edelbrock-upgraded 239ci V8 backed by a 3-speed manual transmission. The seller has owned the vehicle for over 20 years and describes it as having a rust-free body, good panel fitment, and good driving dynamics. Equipment includes rebuilt window mechanisms, aluminum wheels, tinted glass, and a carpeted trunk. Finished in Midnight Blue Metallic over a reupholstered two-tone gray interior, this Super Deluxe is now offered with documentation, a distributor manual, spare trim components, and a clear Washington title in the seller’s name.
Ford full-size sedans rode on a chassis that launched in 1941 and remained in use through 1948, with cosmetic and mechanical changes rolled out annually. This Super Deluxe two-door sedan from 1947 retains its original steel rust-free body and was the recipient of a frame-off restoration in 2011 that applied a repaint in Midnight Blue Metallic. The front and rear bumpers were painted body color, while the grille, headlight bezels, side moldings, side view mirrors, and handles were refinished in bright materials. The exterior features a two-piece windshield, wing windows, a sloping rear roofline, and a dual exhaust system with polished outlets.
Five-spoke 15” Torque Thrust wheels with polished lips are wrapped in newer Douglas All-Season tires. The chassis consists of a 4” drop axle. The braking system has been overhauled.
The interior is equipped with reupholstered two-tone gray vinyl and cloth bench seating, along with replacement door panels, a headliner, and darker carpeting. The dash is accented in bright trim and features an analog clock at the passenger side, and additional amenities include tinted glass and a carpeted trunk. Among other service items, the window mechanisms have been rebuilt and a replacement turn signal switch kit was installed.
Instrumentation includes a 100-mph speedometer and four accompanying gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 93k miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The rebuilt 239ci flathead V8 features dual carburetors, Edelbrock finned aluminum heads and an aluminum intake manifold. Additional performance upgrades include Fenton cast iron headers, a ¾ grind camshaft, adjustable lifters, a Stromberg E-Fire distributor, a high-volume oil pump, and an electric fuel pump. The electrical system has been upgraded to 12 volts, the fuel tank and fuel sending unit are new, and recent maintenance included a carburetor tuning, ignition work, and an oil change in August 2020. Power is directed to the rear wheels via a 3-speed manual transmission and a column-mounted shift lever.
Photos showing the underside are available in the carousel.
The sale includes a folder of documentation, manuals, and some spare bright trim parts.
