46k-mile 1983 Ford Mustang GLX Convertible 5-Speed

This 1983 Ford Mustang GLX is finished in Bright Red over a white vinyl interior with a white cloth convertible top.  It is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.  The car was originally purchased from Norris-Vernier Motor Sales in Wisconsin where it has resided since, and the seller has owned the vehicle for 25 years.  Equipment includes newer Mustang GT wheels and dual chrome exhaust outlets. This Fox Body Mustang is now offered with a CARFAX report and a clean Wisconsin title in the seller’s name.

Finished in Bright Red, this Mustang GLX retains its original color and black rubber body moldings. White pinstriping runs along the upper portion of the vehicle. The powered convertible top is original to the vehicle and shows some signs of wear. A tonneau cover is included with the sale and shown in the gallery. The seller indicates that the driver side front fender and front fascia were repainted during prior ownership.

The multi-spoke 15” aluminum wheels are from a 1988 Ford Mustang GT and are wrapped in Uniroyal Tiger Paw tires sized at 225/60 on all four corners, which are new according to the seller. Additional features include 5.0 badging, and dual chrome exhaust outlets. Braking is provided by vented front discs and drums in the rear.

The interior is fitted with manually-adjustable bucket seats upholstered in white vinyl, along with the back seats and upper door panels. Red carpeting matches the dash, lower door panels, and steering wheel. A GLX specific woodgrain veneer trim covers the drivers side dashboard and glovebox. Features include power windows and locks, a center-console storage compartment, and air conditioning.

The original four spoke steering wheel sits in front of gauges that include an 85 mph speedometer and a 7k tachometer, along with gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel.  The five-digit odometer displays 46k miles, of which the seller has added about 25k miles over 25 years of ownership.

Powered by the original 5.0-liter High-Output V8, the engine was factory rated at 175 horsepower and 245 lb-ft of torque and is mated to a Borg Warner T5 5-speed manual transmission. The most recent service was carried out in July 2020, and it included an oil and filter change and replacement of the serpentine belt.
