This 1996 Chevrolet Impala SS is finished in black over a gray interior and is powered by a 5.7-liter V8 paired to a 4-speed automatic transmission. The car was sold new in November of 1995 and has had only 2 owners, both in Kansas. Acquired by the current owner in September 2004 it was used as a secondary car and garage kept from new. Showing 54k miles on the odometer, this Impala SS is now offered with a clean CARFAX report and a clean Kansas title in the seller’s name.
Offered in a choice of 3 different colors for 1996, this Impala SS came from the factory finished in black, which was the most popular color. Built on the same platform as the Chevrolet Caprice and Buick Roadmaster, exterior features such as body-colored trim instead of chrome, a single-bar grille with black mesh and red bowtie emblem, and a rear trunk lid spoiler to give the car a performance-oriented look. The rear quarters feature an "Impala SS" script on both sides, finished the same color as the body.
Factory 17” 5-spoke wheels are fitted with 255/50 Federal SS595 tires and feature an Impala logo in the center caps. The tires were recently replaced and have approximately 20 miles since installation. For the suspension and brakes, the Impala SS borrowed several parts from the 9C1 police package Caprice including heavy-duty sway bars and 4-wheel disc brakes. The springs and shocks were developed specifically for the Impala SS allowing for improved handling performance over its platform mates.
The interior features dual power-adjustable seats in covered in gray vinyl. The car is also equipped with power windows and locks, automatic headlights, and cruise control. A new AC Delco air conditioning compressor has been installed and the A/C functions with no issue. The center console is fitted between the front seats, housing a T-handle shift lever for the automatic transmission, a feature only available for the 1996 model year
Instrumentation is anchored by a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6k-rpm redline. For 1996, the Impala SS used analog gauges, where previous model years were equipped with a digital display without a tachometer. The six-digit digital odometer currently shows 54k miles, about 5k of which were added by the seller. The car retains its original radio and operates with no issues and the dash pad shows no visible signs of cracking or warping.
The 5.7-liter LT1 V8 was factory-rated at 260 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque. Paired to a General Motors 4L60-E four-speed automatic transmission, the LT1 used in the Impala featured cast iron heads and intake manifold compared to aluminum pieces used in the Corvette variant. The engine retains all the original components including air cleaner and engine cover. The seller has routinely serviced the car themselves with the most recent work performed being the replacement of the front stabilizer bushings.
The dual exhaust was standard equipment from the factory as was the 10-bolt axle housing with 3.08:1 ratio differential with posi-traction. Additional photos showing the underside are provided in the gallery.
The August 2020 Carfax report indicates no accident or damage throughout this Impala SS’ history. Located in Tonganoxie, Kansas this Impala SS is now offered for sale on a clean Kansas title in the sellers name and comes with the original window sticker and owners manuals.
@Ecollins79 – I am new to auctions, will you be disclosing the reserve price? ...
Hello, All cars with "no reserve" are clearly indicated in the vehicle headline, otherwise the car is listed with a reserve. This car has a reserve.

These things are absolute monsters on the highway, gobs of rolling torque. By 96 the opti-spark issues were pretty much sorted out and these cars are essentially bulletproof. Nice to see one of these where the interior plastics held up, no cracking or warping like there seems to be on so many others out there
